    Location: Louis D. Brown Peace Institute, Dorchester, MA

    The Louis D. Brown Peace Institute (LDBPI) is a center of healing, teaching, and learning for families and communities impacted by murder, trauma, grief, and loss. We aim to transform society's response to homicide, ensuring all families are treated with dignity and compassion. Founded in 1994 after the murder of Dorchester resident, Louis D. Brown, The LDBPI is recognized across the state and country for the best practices in the field of homicide response. With over 30 years of experience, the LDBPI continues to innovate and grow.

    Position Summary

    The Chief Program Officer (CPO) will play a pivotal role in advancing the mission of the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute by overseeing and managing the development, implementation, and evaluation of all programs and services. The CPO will ensure that all programs, including but not limited to Survivors Outreach and Reentry Services, are aligned with the organization’s mission, values, and strategic goals. This leadership role requires a visionary, collaborative, and innovative individual who can inspire teams and build partnerships to amplify the Institute’s impact.

    Responsibilities

    Strategic Leadership:

    • Lead the development and execution of programmatic strategies in alignment with the organization’s mission and long-term goals.
    • Collaborate with the Leadership Team, (including CEO and Co-Executive Directors), Department Managers to shape the overall vision for program growth and sustainability.

    Program Development and Oversight:

    • Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of all programs, ensuring high-quality delivery and measurable outcomes.
    • Lead efforts to innovate and improve program offerings to meet the evolving needs of the community.
    • Ensure that programs are culturally competent, trauma-informed, and grounded in the values of healing, equity, and the Seven Principles of Peace (love, unity, faith, hope, courage, justice, forgiveness).
    • Develop department reports to be shared with the Board and funders, ensuring transparency, accountability, and clear communication of program outcomes and impact.

    Team Leadership and Development:

    • Supervise program directors and managers, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback.
    • Foster a collaborative, mission-driven culture that promotes professional growth and accountability.
    • Oversee the recruitment, training, and professional development of program staff.

    Budget and Financial Management:

    • Collaborate with the finance team to develop and manage program budgets.
    • Ensure effective use of resources and adherence to budgetary guidelines.

    Monitoring and Evaluation:

    • Develop and implement processes to track program performance and outcomes. - Lead the evaluation of program effectiveness and use data to make informed decisions for improvement.

    Compliance and Risk Management:

    • Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations related to program

    operations.

    • Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.

    Qualifications and skills

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Social Work, Public Health, Nonprofit Management, Education).
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit program management, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.

    Demonstrate commitment to the LDBPI’s mission statement, vision, principles of peace and organizational culture.

    • Comfortable utilizing supervision and reaching out to colleagues for support and guidance.
    • Experience working with trauma-informed practices and community-based programs is highly desirable.
    • Strong strategic thinking and planning abilities.
    • Demonstrated success in leading and managing diverse teams.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others. ● Ability to foster collaborative partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Financial management and budgeting expertise.

    Time Commitment

    • Full-time, 40 hours/week position, including some evening and weekend work.
