Senior Grants Accountant

The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a unique global network of policy research centers, seeks a full-time Senior Grants Accountant to join its Finance team. This position will report to the Grants Accounting Manager.
Responsibilities will include tracking grant cash receipts on a daily basis and maintaining up-to-date grants receivable reconciliation; preparing detailed grant financial reports and forecasts to be submitted to donors; reviewing grant proposal budgets for accuracy; creating internal grant summaries to track grant spending against proposal budgets; working with research programs to ensure grant spending is in line with the grant proposal budget and the terms of the grant; reviewing grant agreements and preparing revenue journal entries in accordance with US GAAP revenue recognition standards; overseeing Carnegie’s grant timekeeping system, preparing workpapers for donor grant audits, the organizational audit, and IRS Form 990; and preparing fundraising status reports for the Board.
This position requires a degree in accounting or a similar related field and three plus years of work experience in grant reporting and financial management. The ideal candidate has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, proficiency with Microsoft Excel, and the ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment. Applicants should also be detail-oriented, well organized, and possess the ability to think methodically and strategically.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $80,000 - $90,000, and the position comes with health insurance benefits.
