    At Oakland Lacrosse, established in 2012, we believe in the power of team sports to unleash the full potential in each young person and we are hiring for a High School Program Coordinator. This position is part time, and in-person work, to help us build out the first two Oakland based Helmets/boys teams inside the school district. This person is critical to the implementation of our spring team experience, and outreach work leading up to spring to recruit and register players. OLC provides free access to the sport of lacrosse, and a holistic approach that includes leadership development, academic counseling, and wellness education for youth from Oakland Unified Public Schools (OUSD) in grades 6-12.

    Major Responsibilities include:

    • This spring we will launch two new teams at two OUSD High School for Helmets Players, this person will facilitate the day to day spring season responsibilities and support both teams with aspects of recruiting, practice planning, game day support, and overall positive team experience.
    • Impeccable organization, communication and follow through to ensure all participants are registered, barriers are removed to participate, and those most historically marginalized in the sport are invited and recruited to play.
    • Working with OLC Program Coordinators, Managers, Coaches, as well as parents, PE Teachers, School & League Administrators, etc... to plan, prepare, and facilitate OLC program, events and services for these two teams/players in season.
    • Provide direct coaching in sport of lacrosse to players at OLC events and in spring season, as well as supporting the Head & Assistant Coaches at the two OUSD HS teams
    • Using/following OLC databases, systems, and protocols around data, attendance, registration, inventory, budgeting, and more.

    Ideal Candidate:

    • Coaching or teaching experience that brings group management and facilitation skillset to the job.
    • Lacrosse knowledge is a plus, but anyone willing to learn the game is encouraged to apply. Playing lacrosse is not a requirement of the job, however role modeling lacrosse positions and movements of the game is essential
    • Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in sports and urban education
    • Excellent communication, time, and project management skills
    • Loves working in teams and solving real life problems with others
