    POSITION OVERVIEW

    The Assistant Deputy will work closely with our Executive Director, Billy Wimsatt, and the current Senior Deputy to the ED as well as the Chief of Staff and other MVP leadership, playing an integral role in the whole organization’s success. This is a unique opportunity for someone who loves organizing systems and data, and wants to dive right in and gain exposure to and hands-on experience with high-level work to support progressive political leadership in this critical moment. You will spend a lot of time with spreadsheets, correspondence, calendars, and other detail-oriented tasks - while also having the opportunity to exercise your creativity, take ownership of key work streams, and contribute to complex projects. The right person for this role will love movements, politics, grassroots organizing, and donor organizing, and be super organized, tenacious, and able to juggle and stay on top of a lot of moving parts in a dynamic environment.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provide administrative and project management support to the Executive Director and potentially other senior team members, including managing calendars, handling a high volume of correspondence, making travel arrangements, expense reporting, managing contacts, etc. This support is vital to making sure that the Executive Director and the organization can consistently function at a high level and fast pace with nothing slipping through the cracks.
    • Provide key fundraising support to the Executive Director including helping to manage and organize donor lists and keep records up to date across systems, supporting the Executive Director in prioritizing fundraising tasks and communications, and tracking fundraising communications and opportunities coming through the ED’s inbox to ensure timely follow-up. You will also help track and report on the Executive Director’s progress against fundraising goals, research prospects, and do other fundraising-related tasks as assigned.
    • Take on additional substantive tasks and responsibilities including working with the ED and potentially other senior team members to manage and leverage their networks, expand and integrate Billy’s engagement with social media in service of the organization’s goals, and optimize overall use of technology.
    • Support the Senior Deputy and Chief of Staff to make sure key information, insights, and systems are flowing efficiently and well to both internal and external stakeholders.

    • Proficiency in Google Suite-based systems and experience with donor databases; ability to learn systems like Airtable and Bloomerang.

    Preferred qualifications

    • Knowledge and understanding of progressive grassroots organizing and political campaigns and fundraising is a big plus.
    • It will be helpful if you’re in or near western MA for at least occasional in-person work, but this is not a requirement.
