About RLC

Rescuing Leftover Cuisine (RLC) is a national 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to redistributing excess food from businesses to nonprofits serving people experiencing food insecurity. We work alongside our dedicated network of food rescuers and partner with organizations of all sizes and sectors, to repurpose surplus ranging from as little as 5 pounds to as much as 500+ pallets. Our mission is to reduce food waste, promote sustainability, and enhance food security. At RLC, we have rescued 17.5M+ pounds of food, prevented 40.5M+ pounds of CO₂ emissions, and provided 14.6M+ meals—all while operating as a small but mighty organization with a lean budget.

Position

We’re seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our growing team. Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll play a vital role in managing our financial operations and ensuring the sustainability of our mission.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all transactional finance activities, including journal entries, ledger reviews, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare monthly cash flow statements and financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with the executive team to develop and manage budgets and financial forecasts.
• Conduct financial analyses to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
• Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial assets.
• Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors to facilitate the audit process.
• Present financial data to the Board of Directors quarterly.
• Serve as the primary financial point of contact for partners and donors, addressing inquiries, assisting with payment processing (e.g., setting up auto-payments), and providing custom invoices as needed.
• Collaborate with the data team and CTO to ensure accurate reconciliation between Salesforce and QuickBooks Online, maintaining data integrity and financial accuracy.
• Perform other ad hoc duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5–7 years of managerial accounting and financial management experience.
• Proficiency in accounting platforms, including Salesforce and QuickBooks Online (QBO), or the ability to quickly adapt to similar systems.
• Proficiency in Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel, with the flexibility to accommodate team preferences and workflows.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to visit the NYC office once a week.

Total Compensation

• Competitive salary: $80,000 per year.
