NEXT Harm Reduction is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Fiscal Director to lead our financial operations and support our vital mission of providing online and mail-based harm reduction resources.     About NEXT Harm Reduction:

    NEXT Harm Reduction “NEXT” is a tax exempt 501c3 organization founded in New York State in 2017. We believe in meeting people where they are. We provide essential resources to individuals facing barriers to accessing in-person services, driven by compassion, evidence-based practices, and a commitment to reducing the harms associated with drug use. We're experiencing significant growth and need a skilled financial leader to ensure our continued success. NEXT has experienced significant growth over the past three years and we are seeking a full-time Fiscal Director to lead finance and accounting functions. NEXT currently uses Quickbooks Online and all records are maintained electronically. Our physical office is located in New York City. This position requires a great deal of experience and understanding of QuickBooks at an advanced level. You will need to be a self starter and be able to complete all work under strict deadlines accurately.

    Essential Functions

    • Ensure NEXT has the proper financial controls and systems in place to effectively grow the organization to ensure financial strength, efficiency, and sustainability
    • Month-end and year-end close, cost allocation across all grants, revenue recognition, cash management, and management of restricted grants
    • Maintain general ledger and make all appropriate journal entries
    • Budget preparation for individual grants as well as the organization-wide budget that integrates all individual grant budgets. Grant/budget management and billing for each grant per contract.
    • Accounts receivable. Ensure funders are keeping current with the grant billing.
    • Timely preparation and submission of vouchers and reporting to funders
    • Cost analysis and allocation in compliance with and across contracts which might lead to timely preparation and submission of budget modifications
    • Update allocations of expenses when there are budget modifications or new funding streams received
    • Monthly, quarterly, and yearly reporting to organizational leadership, must keep management proactively apprised on all fiscal matters
    • Pay and allocate across grants vendor invoices through check, online banking or other electronic platforms

    Requirements

    • This position has access to highly sensitive information and a clean background check will be required. This position may require bonding.
    • Minimum of 10+ years successful non-profit financial management experience in positions with increasing responsibility, strong accounting, experience with audits and government funders
    • Minimum of 10+ years experience with QuickBooks Online, specifically with fund accounting and or non-profit accounting using a classing system to track each grant separately.
    • Minimum of two full audits, working with auditors, preparing year end closing adjusting entries for AR, AP, Prepaid expenses as well as recording of restricted fund balances for grants.
    • Advanced excel experience and the ability to prepare grant budgets and analysis of various expenses for the audit
    • High-level knowledge of GAAP for non-profit accounting and understanding of non-profit compliance requirements
    • Timely responsiveness to all inquiries from both inside the organization and outside with funders
    • Ability to present financial information clearly and concisely to people with low levels of financial knowledge
    • Reliable and trustworthy, ability to effectively communicate verbally and through phone/email
    • Experience in a multi-state/national organization a plus
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

    Compensación

    Competitive Compensation & Benefits: $90,000 annual salary, 100% employer-sponsored health insurance, and a retirement plan with a 3% company match.
