    Descripción

The YWCA of the City of New York (YW-NYC) is on a mission to eliminate racism, empower women and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. We are a social justice organization dedicated to addressing issues that emerge at the intersection of race, class, and gender. Founded in 1858, the YW- NYC is the first YW in the United States and part of an international movement of YWs worldwide. We currently serve 2,500 New York City school children by providing leadership and advocacy training for young women through our high school Girls Initiatives and Out-of-School Time (OST) programs for middle school and middle school students in diverse communities in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

YWCA NYC is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Development Officer to join our development and communications team. The Development Officer will be primarily responsible for building and managing relationships with corporations and foundations and writing and managing grants to secure institutional funding. This position will also lead prospect research efforts to identify new operational and programmatic fundraising opportunities in support of YWCA NYC’s mission to empower women and eliminate racism, with a focus on our after-school programs for BIPOC youth from underrepresented communities.

The ideal candidate is passionate about social justice and women empowerment, experienced in institutional fundraising, and has a track record of securing significant contributions from corporations and foundations.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Institutional Fundraising

    • Develop and implement strategies to secure funding from corporations and foundations to support YWCA NYC’s programs and initiatives.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective corporate and foundation partners.
    • Create compelling proposals, presentations, and reports to articulate YWCA NYC’s mission and impact.
    • Collaborate with program teams to align fundraising initiatives with organizational goals.
    • Manage the grant application process, including writing and submitting applications, and ensuring compliance with funder requirements.

    Prospect Research

    • Conduct research to identify new institutional fundraising prospects and opportunities.
    • Evaluate and prioritize prospects based on alignment with YWCA NYC’s mission and funding needs.
    • Maintain accurate records of research findings and fundraising activities in the donor management system.

    Relationship Management & Event Support

    • Cultivate relationships with funders through regular communication, updates, and stewardship efforts.
    • Represent and support the YWCA NYC organization and its fundraising efforts at networking events, the annual gala, funder meetings, and other relevant opportunities to help garner support, increase visibility and build partnerships.

    Reporting & Data Management

    • Track and analyze fundraising performance against goals, providing regular updates to leadership.
    • Ensure accurate and timely recording of all fundraising activities, donations, and grant reporting in donor management systems.

Support the development and communications team in other departmental duties as deemed necessary by the Senior Director of Development and Communications.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Nonprofit Management, Communications, Business, etc.) or equivalent experience.
    • 3-5 years of experience in institutional fundraising, with a focus on corporate and foundation relations.
    • Proven track record of securing significant gifts and grants from institutional funders.
    • Strong research skills and experience with prospect research tools.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to craft persuasive narratives and grant proposals.
    • Proficiency in donor management systems (e.g., Salesforce, Bloomerang, Raiser’s Edge).
    • Ability to work collaboratively and cross-departmentally, with strong interpersonal skills.
    • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to multitask.
    • Strong work ethic and professionalism.
    • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in the workplace.
    • Commitment to YWCA NYC’s mission of eliminating racism and empowering women.
