    The Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC) is a national nonprofit founded in 1994 by Harvard Business School professor Michael Porter. ICIC drives inclusive economic prosperity in under-resourced communities through innovative research and programs to create jobs, income, and wealth for local residents. Informed by our research, ICIC has developed and supported highly effective initiatives for underserved businesses to meet entrepreneurs’ most pressing needs.     Position Summary

    ICIC serves as a national partner for Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses (10KSB), a program aimed at empowering entrepreneurs to create jobs and drive economic growth through access to education, capital, and business support services. ICIC manages and provides strategic guidance on outreach, application, and selection processes across all program locations.

    The Senior Associate (Data-Focused) plays a lead role in managing all data analysis tasks for the 10KSB team. They will manage our CRM system and lead project management, analytics, technology, and process optimization efforts. This role includes overseeing strategic advising for program sites, defining and implementing data and process strategies, and managing the program’s Salesforce platform to enhance impact. The Senior Associate will engage regularly with external stakeholders, including the Goldman Sachs Foundation and Babson College, the program’s educational partner. This position reports to the 10KSB Program Director.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Data Analysis (40%)

    • Partner with Goldman Sachs technology teams to streamline processes and drive innovation in technical workflows, recommending data process improvement that aligns with program goals.
    • Ensure and uphold data integrity and quality across the platform.
    • Leading and managing the 10KSB Data team.
    • Manage all 10KSB data requests and ensure high levels of data quality and consistency.
    • Interpret data and analyze results to create internal and external reports and identify any patterns or inconsistencies.
    • Streamline back-end data-related processes to increase efficiency; and

    CRM Management (25%)

    • Manage and maintain the Salesforce system supporting the 10KSB program, managing ~15 internal users and 200 outreach licenses.
    • Responsible for all Salesforce administrative functions, including user maintenance, permissions management, generation of reports and dashboards, and routine platform tasks.
    • Primary contact for system troubleshooting, leveraging expert knowledge to diagnose and resolve technical issues. Proactively identify and implement system improvements based on user feedback.
    • Lead the design, development, and implementation of training programs for all users, including creating detailed guides and facilitating training sessions to enhance user proficiency and independence with Salesforce.
    • Conduct office hours for users who may require additional support/training.

    10KSB Site Management (25%)

    • Oversee the implementation of the 10KSB program across two locations.
    • Manage outreach and the selection process for three cohorts, totaling 120 participants per market.
    • Ensure the accuracy and quality of program data across these sites.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for Goldman Sachs at designated locations.
    • Participate in applicant evaluation and selection, including facilitating interviews with candidates and site partners.
    • Provide peer leadership and mentorship to junior staff within the 10KSB program.

    Travel (10%)

    • Travel to local 10KSB sites to interview candidates for the program.
    • Attend conferences and sponsored partner events to promote the program.

    Qualifications

    The successful candidate is a highly organized self-starter with experience in data analysis and program management. This candidate will be inspired by the work that we do at ICIC and passionate about supporting small businesses. Specific qualifications include:

    • A Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of relevant work experience OR 6+ years of relevant work experience, with some prior experience in program management, communications, capacity building, or partnership-based work.
    • At least 2-3 years of data analysis experience, along with program/project management experience.
    • Knowledge of economic development and small business operations is preferred.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
    • Demonstrated experience with Salesforce or other CRM systems
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Strong organizational and prioritization skills and a keen attention to detail
    • Professional communication skills for interacting with both internal and external stakeholders
    • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks concurrently while managing competing demands
    • Collaborative, solutions-oriented team player who enjoys working with other team members and departments
    • Ability to travel up to 10% of the year, nationally

    Compensación

    • Three weeks of vacation per year to start, with an additional day added for each year of service up to 5 years
    • Thirteen days of paid holidays, half days on Fridays before long weekends, plus one floating holiday
    • Ten days of paid sick leave and two days paid personal leave each calendar year
    • Health, Dental, Vision Insurance (70% paid by ICIC)
    • 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching up to 4% after the first year of employment
