    Descripción

    Housing Counseling Services is seeking a social worker to coordinate the delivery of services to individuals participating in our agency's transitional housing program. The social worker will provide case management services to assist program participants identify and implement strategies that support long term housing stability as well as provide assistance in the development and implementation of a plan to respond to presenting housing, financial, health, and other related barriers. As appropriate, the social worker will also assist clients with accessing available community resources to address identified barriers. We are seeking candidates who are smart, high energy, able to problem solve, and committed to helping people to join our housing services delivery team.

    PRIMARY DUTIES:

    • Coordinate the delivery of supportive services and case management towards assisting transitional housing program participants move to stable long-term or permanent housing opportunities
    • Assist program participants explore all viable stable housing options including renting, shared housing, and permanent supportive housing options
    • Conduct regular assessment of participants’ needs and barriers. Connect program participants with needed support service including financial assistance, food, utilities, clothing, employment training and opportunities, education services, medical care, etc.
    • Advocate on the behalf of program participants with landlords, social service agencies, etc.
    • Complete housing plans with program participants to detail tasks to be accomplished that support transitioning to permanent housing and to prevent future housing crises
    • Develop household budget and personal money management plans with program participants that support future housing independence
    • Conduct regular home visits and follow-up with participants to evaluate implementation of housing plans and to provide appropriate technical assistance.
    • Develop relationships with housing and community service providers to further support efforts to address program participants’ presenting barriers
    • Maintain accurate written and computer-based files
    • Assist other staff in meeting the needs of HCS clients.
    • Perform other HCS tasks as requested.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master of Social Work degree - LGSW or higher social work licensure preferred
    • Experience and demonstrated success delivering services to at risk populations
    • Ability to work independently and as a team player, exercising mature judgment
    • Highly motivated self-starter with an ability to complete multiple tasks in timely manner
    • Must have excellent problem-solving skills and be able to develop innovative solutions
    • Must demonstrate the ability to communicate with a variety of professionals including real estate professionals, attorneys, medical providers, etc.
    • Must maintain and manage confidential information
    • Strong oral and written communication skills as well as excellent computer skills
    • Ability to translate technical information into layman’s terms
    • Sensitivity to the needs within the community and to individual clients

    Compensación

    Housing Counseling Services, Inc., (HCS) offers the following benefits to employees. Compensation consists of both salary and fringe benefits that currently include:

    Sick and Annual Leave which both initially accrue at 4.5 hours per pay period (annual leave accrual increases after some time at HCS)

    Birthday Holiday (taken on the day of your birthday OR must be used within 30 days of your birthday)

    4% (of salary) contribution to a 403(b) tax deferred annuity after 6 months of service

    Long-Term Disability and Life Insurance Policies with UNUM (no cost to the employee)

    Flex-hours that must be pre-approved by your supervisor and meet the needs of our clients

    Paid Holidays (following DC government holiday schedule)

    Compensatory Time for professional staff that work excess hours during any pay period (must be approved by your immediate supervisor)

    HCS offers and makes contributions towards employee health and dental. Employee’s may include eligible family members on these plans, but will be responsible to cover the full cost of these family member’s insurance coverages. Vision is paid 100% by the employee

    HCS CONTRIBUTION FOR HEALTH INSURANCE: HCS selected a Reference Health Plan that is the basis for the HCS contribution towards health insurance coverage for each employee. HCS will pay 100% of the employee’s coverage for this Reference Plan and this same dollar amount may be applied to any BCBS plan you select on the DC Health Exchange. As the cost of coverage is different for every employee (as it is based on age). The Rate Sheet for the HCS Reference Plan is attached to this email and it indicates the amount of the HCS contribution which you will receive (based on this Reference Plan). You may select individual coverage as well as coverage for your eligible family members. The HCS contribution remains the same whether you select individual or family coverage. HCS cannot contribute to the cost of employee health insurance that is not part of the HCS account through the DC Health Exchange.

    HCS CONTRIBUTION FOR DENTAL AND VISIONS: HCS offers dental and vision coverage through BCBS, though this selection will be made through individual paper applications provided by the HR Department. Dental and Vision selection will not happen through the web-based health exchange. HCS will contribute 100% of employee coverage for the BCBS dental plan ONLY. If you waive dental coverage, this dollar amount can also be applied to your portion of your health insurance coverage. If you choose not to use our health insurance, you may apply the full amount of the HCS health insurance contribution towards coverage for dental. Employees who elect to Waive the BCBS Dental Plan and/or Vision Plans must complete a BCBS Waiver of Enrollment Form.
