    TITLE: Executive Director

    JOB SUMMARY: The Executive Director will serve as the visionary leader and key strategist for a dynamic mentoring and scholarship organization dedicated to empowering students in New York City public schools. This individual will oversee all aspects of program development, administration, fundraising, and operations, ensuring the organization delivers impactful mentorship and scholarship opportunities to underserved students. The Executive Director will collaborate with school leaders, corporations, mentors, and donors to create sustainable partnerships and sponsorships that support academic success, college readiness, and personal growth. The position requires a passionate and results-oriented leader with a deep commitment to educational equity, strong management skills, and the ability to advocate for students in both educational and philanthropic spheres.

    REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Acting as the primary fundraiser, meets aggressive annual fundraising goals, in partnership with the Board of Directors, by securing financial support from foundations, corporations, individual donors, and Department of Education funding sources
    • Serve as the face of the organization and participate in external and internal events to increase visibility, credibility, and market brand, and develop strategic partnerships to further increase revenue, community awareness, and expand programs
    • Support and advise the Board of Directors in strategic planning, policy development, and ensuring effective governance and compliance with organizational bylaws
    • Build and lead an effective team that is dedicated to fulfilling the organization’s mission through highly successful programs, community engagement, and fundraising
    • Carry out all aspects of the organization's financial operations, including developing annual budgets, forecasting and tracking financial performance, bookkeeping, payroll, and donation processing
    • Oversee the recruitment, hiring, and performance evaluation of senior staff, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and fostering a culture of accountability and professional growth
    • Supervise the program director in designing and implementing a comprehensive mentoring and scholarship program for students across multiple schools
    • Oversee the management of the programming schedule, curriculum development and execution, GCSA operations, mentor communications and relationships, and outreach to key stakeholders
    • Work with program staff and Board of Directors on annual fundraising benefit and program events
    • Oversee staff in the management of all external communications, including website, marketing collateral, newsletters, and social media

    IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL BE/HAVE:

    • The belief that all students, regardless of circumstance, can be successful and achieve postsecondary success;
    • Expertise in fundraising, grant writing, and financial management to ensure the sustainability and growth of the organization;
    • The ability to set a clear vision for a complex organization, inspire a team, and navigate challenges in education and workforce development;
    • Skill in identifying long-term goals, creating and implementing strategies to achieve them, and continuously evaluating and adapting the program to maximize impact;
    • Strong communication skills for advocating on behalf of the organization with stakeholders, including funders, policymakers, and the broader community;
    • Sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds of NYC students, with a focus on equity and inclusion in all aspects of program delivery;
    • Willingness to go above and beyond to contribute to the success of a dynamic team committed to improving student outcomes

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: The Executive Director will have a Bachelor's degree and at least 5-10 years of experience in leadership roles. Candidates will have a proven track record of fundraising success, and managing teams, budgets, and programmatic initiatives. Direct experience working in education or youth-focused programs, particularly in underserved communities, is highly preferred.     MISCELLANEOUS: The Executive Director will perform all other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.

    COMPENSATION: Compensation for this position includes a base salary ranging from $100,000 to $115,000, based on experience. Benefits include medical insurance, a 401(k), and three weeks of paid vacation.
