    Uncommon Good is a nonprofit organization that operates education, urban farming, health and environmental programs for low-income families. Its education program, Connect to College, is a college access program that provides disadvantaged students in 4th – 12th grade with mentors, academic tutors, college preparation, and enrichment opportunities. Our urban farm program, CAUSA, provides healthy food for Connect to College families and community members via 8 urban farms and ~100 gleaning locations. CAUSA also provides health/wellness and environmental education. Our MED program supports young doctors who serve in disadvantaged communities and functions as a medical career pipeline for Connect to College students.

    Position Summary: The Pantry Operations Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Uncommon Good’s food distribution efforts, ensuring efficiency in inventory management, community engagement, and data tracking. This role directly supports CAUSA’s urban farming and food security initiatives by managing distribution logistics, volunteer coordination, and Salesforce data analysis.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Provide excellent customer service to pantry visitors, demonstrating kindness, compassion, and patience.
    • Coordinate the storage and distribution of fresh food and nonperishable food
    • Manage all farm-related data utilizing Salesforce and other tracking programs.
    • Assist customers with the check-in process via the one-time registration form and ensure smooth subsequent visits using the tablet system.
    • Generate, update, and adjust forms as needed based on evolving client needs and organizational requirements.
    • Serve as a key representative of CAUSA, delivering presentations and engaging with community stakeholders.
    • Collect, enter, and analyze farm, gleaning, and donation data.
    • Process harvests: sort, weigh, wash, store, and distribute produce.
    • Keep food storage areas clean and organized.
    • Organize, display, and distribute donated nonperishable items.
    • Fill box orders for customers.
    • Assist in the maintenance of farm/storage equipment and the greywater system.
    • Supervise and coordinate volunteers and interns during pantry operations.
    • Assist in identifying and implementing infrastructure/storage improvements.
    • Complete additional tasks to support the CAUSA program and Farm Director.

    Knowledge, Characteristics, and Skills We Seek

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and Outlook) and Salesforce.
    • Ability to answer phones as needed.
    • Fluent spoken Spanish.

    Requirements

    • High School completion.
    • Some college or farm/food experience.
    • This position spends approximately 85% of the day moving.
    • This position spends approximately 50% of the day in the offices and 50% outside.
    • Must be able to stand, walk, talk, hear, sit, bend, climb, stoop, kneel, and crouch during their normal duties.
    • Must have hand and wrist coordination for data entry input. Must be able to work with hands and arms to reach, finger, handle, or feel objects.
    • Must have good vision for close-up computer work (with or without the aid of eyeglasses or contact lenses)
    • Must be able to speak and communicate verbally with co-workers, customers, vendors, etc.
    • Must regularly lift and or move up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation.
