    ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT: SEAMAAC welcomes applications for the position of Youth Programs Coordinator. SEAMAAC is a nonprofit organization in Philadelphia, with the mission “To support and serve immigrants and refugees and other politically, socially and economically marginalized communities as they seek to advance the condition of their lives in the United States.” SEAMAAC envisions a strong and unified society, where immigrants and refugeeswork alongside other Americans to build shared political, economic and social power.

    POSITION SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of the Youth Programs Coordinator is to provide overall coordination and administration of SEAMAAC’s Out of School Time (OST) and Summer program for high school students at multiple sites. Our programs use project-based learning with a focus on fostering entrepreneurship through the Urban Arts. This includes instruction in breakdancing and photography/videography, empowering youth to develop creative and entrepreneurial skills simultaneously. The curriculum addresses leadership development, civic engagement, entrepreneurship, life skills, prevention activities, academic enrichment, and college/career readiness. The Youth Programs Coordinator provides technical support for the development, design and implementation of effective youth programming. This includes youth recruitment, parent engagement, curriculum and lesson plan development, overseeing regularly scheduled program wide activities, completing funder deliverables, and maintaining program site security. A successful candidate must possess a strong commitment to and respect for a diverse range of cultural and performing arts – especially the wide range of creative expressions that Urban Arts encompasses.

    The Youth Programs Coordinator will assist with recruiting, interviewing and hiring recommendations, providing training, supervising and evaluating youth program staff, interns and volunteers, and monitoring staff schedules. The Youth Programs Coordinator’s overall contribution to SEAMAAC includes but is not limited to participating in the department’s program evaluations, database management, meeting with funders and partners, advocacy, ensuring compliance with documentation/reporting requirements, and department and program visioning and implementation.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Toperform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required.
    • Minimum of two to three years of supervisory and administrative experience preferable.
    • Excellent administrative and organization abilities.
    • Outstanding communication skills,both oral and written; excellent computer skills.
    • Experience with coordinating and/or directing youth programs.
    • Ability to multitask and work on different projectsaside from regularprogramming.
    • Self-starter with strong leadership skills.
    • Experience dealing with at risk youth and ability to deescalate crisis.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Administer SEAMAAC OST and summer programs for youth at multiple sites in the Philadelphia and metro area.
    • Onsite supervision to multiple programsites daily.
    • Implement program designsand youth recruitment strategies. Fill programyouth slots throughrecruitment and completion of accurate registrations.
    • Develop curriculum and oversee lessonplans in each program activity.
    • Schedule program-wide events.
    • Engage youth in external opportunities. Maintain monthly programcalendar. Utilize evaluation tools.
    • Ensure that annual organizational, funderand program goals met.
    • Oversee thorough data entry in multiple funder and internal databases. Collect student attendance and academic records. Ensure database compliance.
    • Create program flyers, update program applications, promote program activities, and capture program social media opportunities. Ensure that all program materials are collected, confidentially maintained, and securely stored organized by fiscal year.
    • Recruit, train, supervise and provide guidance to program staff, consultants, interns, volunteers, and youth. Ensure all program requirements are performed and completed.
    • Coordinate staff schedules and conduct regular staff supervision meetings and monthlyteam meetings. Maintain records of staff supervision meetings.
    • Coordinate and monitor professional development and training goals for program staff. .and staff schedules. Submit all records to Education Department Director monthly.
    • Monitor staff performance, conduct performance evaluations, complete correction action plans, and approve timesheets. Notify the Education Department Director of any troublesome patterns of discrepancies or unresolved issues.
    • Ensure that mandatedreporting responsibilities are met.
    • Oversee program site security for youth safety.
    • Serve as liaison for program funders and program partners. Attend interagency meetings, conferences, and trainings, as required by program funders.
    • Consistently communicate with staff, families, organizations and other providers (both formal and informal) including the School District of Philadelphia, City and State agencies for the purpose of coordination of service and collaborative activities.
    • Collaborate and participate with SEAMAAC Management Team on grant writing, agency-level planning, fundraising and staff development.
    • Develop expert proficiency on organizational policiesand procedures.
    • Attend regular supervision meetings with the Education Department Director.

    ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Actively participate in organizational-wide effortsand a minimum of 5 events per calendar year.
    • Other assignments, includingtranslation/interpretation, as required.
    • Flexible hours, requiressome travel, evening,and weekend assignments.

    COMPETENCIES:

    • Demonstratedexperience in organizational and staff development and program development.
    • Knowledge and clear vision for delivering high impact services to political, social and linguistically marginalized youth, individuals and families.
    • Experience with data collection, databasesystems, and analysisof data for quality assuranceand program improvement.
    • Experience with grant writing, grant management and reporting.
    • Ability to respectfully interact with a wide rangeof youth clients,their parents/guardians, program partners and funders.
    • Demonstrated ability to handle a heavy workload, exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality, handle multiple priorities, use sound judgment, and approach requirements with urgency.
