    Position Overview: Are you a visionary leader passionate about climate justice and the Miami community? Miami Climate Alliance is seeking a dynamic and experienced Executive Director (ED) to lead our organization in its mission to achieve justice for Miami communities in the face of climate change and its effects.

    Miami Climate Alliance is dedicated to advancing climate justice, racial justice, resilience, and sustainability across South Florida. The organization works to activate and engage communities in addressing the urgent threats of climate change and sea level rise. We work to build collective action and shared strategy across members and member organizations that promote the well-being of current and future generations. With a focus on climate mitigation, resilience, and equity, the Alliance aims to protect communities and prepare for the evolving climate challenges facing the region. We’re seeking a strategic, passionate Executive Director to lead this respected organization at the intersection of environmental and social justice.

    As ED, you will guide our strategic direction, oversee programs and operations, build fundraising strategies, and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders. This role works closely with the Board of Directors, staff, and community to make an impact on both our community and our planet.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Leadership & Strategic Planning:
      • Shape and implement the organization’s mission, goals, and programs, ensuring long-term impact and growth
      • Communicate and reinforce a strong vision of the Alliance
      • Prioritize equity and justice in building partnerships that advance our work
      • Collaborate with the Board of Directors and Leadership Team to develop and implement a strategic plan
    • Fundraising & Development:
      • Lead fundraising efforts, expand donor relations, and manage the annual budget in collaboration with the Board
      • Organize and assist with fundraising campaigns to secure necessary financial resources
      • Oversee grant writer and ensure the submission of timely and accurate proposals to secure funding
    • Program Management:
      • Lead the planning, implementation, and coordination of our key programs
      • Evaluate, revise, and develop programs to meet the evolving needs of the MCA
      • Supervise and mentor staff and volunteer leaders to foster a positive organizational culture, develop future leaders within MCA, and ensure high-quality program delivery
    • Operations & Financial Management:
      • Manage day-to-day operations, including budgeting, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and legal requirements.
    • Communications & External Relations
      • Oversee the creation and distribution of marketing materials and organizational reports.
      • Serve as the point of contact between the Board of Directors and external stakeholders
      • Represent MCA in the community, media, and with stakeholders as needed

    Qualifications:

    • Education:
      • Bachelor’s degree required; degree in nonprofit management, environmental studies, or a related field preferred.
    • Experience:
      • Minimum 5 years of senior management experience, including fundraising, financial management, and staff leadership.
      • Strong commitment to equity, social justice, and working with marginalized communities.
      • Proven track record of building and managing donor relationships and securing major funding.
      • Exceptional communication skills, with experience in public speaking, media relations, and strategic outreach.
    • Skills:
      • Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
      • Proficiency in Google Drive, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and other relevant software.
      • Ability to build powerful partnerships with partner organizations, volunteers, and donors.
      • Ability to navigate the unique political and cultural landscape of Florida.
