    Descripción

    Deliverables/Responsibilities:

    Recruit worker members and develop leaders from One Fair Wage’s Worker Relief Fund applicant pool, and from other outreach. OFW Organizers will use different data systems to grow the base and then continue to recruit members and develop leaders from that enlarged base. This includes:

    • Building a worker base from OFW’s EveryAction database through call/ phone banking the list and in person canvassing
    • Holding member meetings with new members and key leader members on a weekly/bi-weekly basis
    1. Conduct regular actions and events in their states, including as part of National Days of Action; prepare worker leaders to speak to press and conduct visits with legislators. Work with the local members to identify spokespersons to speak to press, legislators and at events.
    2. Attend the OFW Organizing Department’s scheduled meetings and trainings.
    3. Support the work of the Organizing Department and One Fair Wage as necessary and when needed.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 3-5 years experience in organizing for labor and/or social justice movement organizing, with strong understanding of online leadership development
    • 3-5 years professional experience related to policy campaigns and movement mass mobilizations in the areas of civil rights, labor rights, women’s rights, immigrant rights, housing rights, and/ or educational or environmental justice
    • Experience with computer software, team management apps, and social media platforms, including Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Zoom, VAN, EveryAction, Asana, Slack, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc
    • Maintenance of a professional attitude and strong ethical practice and a willingness to learn and grow; ability to consistently represent OFW publicly, professionally online and in person
    • Self-starter, motivated to get work done in an aggressive but supportive team environment
    • Strong communication, time management, and team leadership skills, including active listening, empathy, pop’d agendas, delegation, facilitation skills, and documentation of work and strong writing skills
    • Ability to work nights and weekends, with strong time management boundary and self-care skills, ability to manage up, work independently as well as collaborate, coordinate, and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong relationships and partnerships across organizations
    • Ability to work under high pressure and short deadlines
    • Commitment to racial, social, and economic justice; and significant experience working collaboratively with persons of diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds, socioeconomic status, ages, and sexual orientations
    • Willingness to travel when/if safe and work in the work office . A valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle and auto insurance coverage when driving are needed
    • Experience as a tipped worker or restaurant worker preferred
    • Fluency in oral and written Spanish language preferred
