    SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The Lead Child Care Specialist for Manhattan is a new role within NMIC’s Benefits Unit that will work with our highly skilled and experienced interdisciplinary team to help build NMIC’s Child Care Assistance Program and provide childcare subsidies to families with undocumented children in Manhattan. This position will also serve as the primary point of contact for Manhattan-based contract partners and child care providers and will assist unit management with outreach, reporting and contract compliance.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Borough Lead Responsibilities

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for Manhattan-based community partners and participating child care providers.
    • Develop community partnerships to increase community awareness of and access to the program.
    • Recruit child care providers in Manhattan to participate in the program and accept vouchers for eligible children.
    • Support the program manager and other staff conducting outreach to potential eligible clients in Manhattan.
    • Provide support for program staff where needed in collaboration with the Program Manager and other unit leadership staff.
    • Assist unit management with reporting and/or contract compliance where necessary.

    Case Management Responsibilities

    • Conduct client intakes in NMIC’s ClientTrack database system.
    • Conduct screenings for existing childcare program eligibility and new Child Care Assistance Services program eligibility.
    • Complete and submit applications for child care subsidies.
    • Help clients find and enroll eligible children with a childcare provider and obtain confirmation of enrollment and related costs from the childcare provider.
    • Maintain an active caseload, including tracking relevant deadlines and proper client communication.
    • Maintain daily and consistent case notes and status updates in NMIC’s ClientTrack database.
    • Organize and maintain client files in compliance with grant, reporting, and ethical requirements.
    • Support program manager and other NMIC staff to ensure ongoing issuance of subsidies and verification of subsidy payments.
    • Attend department and agency-wide meetings as scheduled.

    Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Experience implementing and/or managing similar programs preferred.
    • Bilingual in English/Spanish (both written and verbal) is required.
    • Ability to enter and review information in online systems and databases.
    • Knowledge of working with diverse and underserved communities preferred.
    • Demonstrated computer/technology literacy.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to maintain consistently positive interactions with all members of the public.
    • Excellent office management and organizational skills.
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
    • Proven ability to work collaboratively and to interact with management and program staff.

    SALARY/BENEFITS:

    BENEFITS: NMIC offers a generous benefits package including medical, dental, life, and disability insurance; paid time off consisting of 20 vacation days, 15 sick days, 5 personal days, 11 agency holidays, plus the week off from Christmas Eve through New Year's Day; a 401k with agency contribution; and other benefits.
