    Descripción

    The John Paul Stevens Foundation is seeking a remote (California-based) part-time (20 hours/week) Program and Fundraising Associate to support the Foundation and John Paul Stevens Public Interest Fellowship program, primarily with administrative duties and communications, which include the following:

    • Communications: Draft content and design articles, e-newsletter, and social media postings for the Foundation’s website and on LinkedIn and X (formerly known as Twitter) using programs such as Canva and Hootsuite; support donor stewardship communications including pledge fulfillment and donation requests. Experience with website management is a plus.
    • Database Management: Maintain Fellowship database and relations, which includes 1000+ Fellows, and donor database, Bloomerang. Maintain accurate Fellow and donor records.
    • Logistical Support for Virtual and In-Person Events (mostly virtual, some in-person): Set up and administer Zoom meetings, trainings, and webinars, including break-out rooms; Logistics and event planning for virtual and occasional in-person fundraising and Fellowship activities (e.g. fundraising and networking events, etc.).
    • Program Grant-Making and Strategic Planning Support, as determined in consultation with the Program Director and/or Executive Director.
    • Research, Writing, and Analysis: Conduct program-related research, writing, analysis, and creation of evaluation forms for various stakeholders (e.g. law students, Fellowship alumni, Board members, and donors).

    The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in supporting public interest law students, building relationships and fostering community and networking (namely among law students, alumni of the Fellowship program, and program-affiliated law schools and nonprofits), furthering the legacy of U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens, working with a small team as part of a nimble and dynamic organization, and the following skills and experience:

    Required Qualifications

    • An equity mindset (awareness of the inequities that exist at multiple levels from the personal to the systemic) and demonstrated commitment to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
    • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
    • Demonstrated significant self-motivation, ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
    • Organized, reliable, and efficient, ability to prioritize and move multiple projects/activities forward at the same time, open to learning new things, and creative and innovative approach to improving office systems.
    • Strong work ethic and impeccable attention to detail.
    • Strong communications skills, including ability to write clearly and communicate effectively.
    • Ability to think strategically and to work collaboratively with others, including building internal and external relationships.
    • Trustworthiness with sensitive and/or confidential personnel, financial, and case information.
    • Tech-savvy with working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and a wide range of web and database software (Google,  Canva, Hootsuite, MailChimp). Willingness to learn other software programs as needed.
    • The John Paul Stevens Foundation requires COVID-19 vaccination for all staff, with exemptions available in accordance with federal law.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Prior experience working as an administrative, grants administrator, or legal assistant in a non-profit organization, grantmaking organization, or law office.
    • Passion for and commitment to public interest lawyering as a tool for social change.
    • Familiarity with and ability to use Canva and Hootsuite, including to create and synthesize information into easy-to-read narrative, charts, maps, and spreadsheets
    • Familiarity with and ability to use donor database, Bloomerang
    • Familiarity with and ability to use email marketing platform, MailChimp
    • Experience delivering presentations and training.

    Compensation

    This position is a remote, part-time (20 hours/week) non-exempt role with compensation dependent on experience; range of $25-30/hour.

The Program and Fundraising Associate will be the third employee of the Foundation and will report to and work closely with the full-time Program Director and also with the Executive Director.

    Location: California (Remote). While the Stevens Foundation is a fully-remote organization, this position will be based in California.
