    Friends of Mill Ridge Park (“FMRP”) is an Antioch-based nonprofit with a mission to enhance and advocate for Mill Ridge Park to strengthen the community in southeast Davidson County. FMRP seeks to hire a Volunteer Coordinator to serve the community at Mill Ridge Park in Antioch, Tennessee. Success for this position is measured by the impact on the park and community achieved by the regular participation of volunteers. Volunteer participation will be coordinated by the Volunteer Coordinator.

    Primary Duties & Responsibilities

    • Plan and implement community outreach efforts to build awareness and recruit volunteers
    • Research, schedule, plan, organize, promote, and facilitate weekly volunteer activities which include, but are not limited to cleanups, pumpkin patch and orchard care, invasive plant removal, pollinator garden planting/maintenance, wildlife habitat (re)construction, facility repairs, and trail building/repairs
    • Promote past/future volunteer activities and organization initiatives, online and in person
    • Present to current and prospective volunteers and partners about organization service activities
    • Develop methods to increase volunteer participation and retain and steward volunteer relationships
    • Document, analyze, and report volunteer participation and achievements
    • Conduct volunteer recognition efforts
    • Represent FMRP with professionalism and hospitality in the community
    • Work flexible schedule averaging 35 hours per week, including early mornings, nights, and weekends
    • Work in the outdoors under various weather conditions; traverse uneven terrain; walk, stand, bend, stoop, and lift 35 lbs. on a regular basis
    • Maintain a means of personal transportation and communication

    Qualifications

    • Enthusiasm for the outdoors and a passion for the mission and values of FMRP
    • A combination of experience and/or higher education in related fields, such as parks and recreation, education, environment, healthcare, or social services
    • Experience leading others and engaging with people of diverse backgrounds with effective oral and written communication skills
    • Experience working with the public and community partners collaboratively in a team environment
    • Must be organized, flexible, and able to follow instructions without direct supervision
    • Experience using Google Suite, MS Office,
    • Able to traverse rugged outdoors while standing, bending, using hand tools, and lifting 35 pounds
    • Acceptable background for working with the public, including youth and vulnerable populations
    • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation

    Classification, Compensation & Equal Employment Opportunity

    Annual compensation for this full-time, exempt employee includes a salary starting at $50,000 plus a monthly stipend for healthcare and cellphone. Paid time off consists of 10 vacation days, 12.5 holidays, and 12 sick days.
