    Position:

    The Director of Development and Communications will play a pivotal role in advancing the mission and vision of the School. This position combines the strategic oversight of fundraising initiatives with the development and implementation of effective communication strategies to engage stakeholders, donors, alumni, parents, and the wider community.

    The position will report to the Head of School and, as a member of the leadership team, will work closely with both the Head and the Principal. The Director will eventually manage a Development and Communications Associate. This is an exempt position.

    Responsibilities:

    Development:

    • Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies to meet annual fundraising goals, including major gifts, annual giving, corporate partnerships, and special campaigns.
    • Cultivate relationships with prospective donors, alumni, parents, and other stakeholders to secure financial support for school programs, scholarships, and capital projects.
    • Oversee management of donor stewardship activities, including acknowledgment letters, recognition programs, and donor appreciation events.
    • Oversee grant research, writing, and reporting processes to secure funding from foundations and other grant-making organizations.
    • Collaborate with the Board of Trustees, school leadership, and development committee to drive fundraising efforts and engage board members in donor cultivation and solicitation activities.

    Communications:

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications plan to enhance the school's visibility and reputation within the community.
    • Oversee creation of engaging content for various communication channels, including the school website, social media platforms, newsletters, press releases, and marketing materials.
    • Oversee management of the school's digital presence, including website updates, social media postings, and email marketing campaigns.
    • When the School opens in 2025, coordinate with faculty, staff, and students to highlight academic achievements, extracurricular activities, and other noteworthy events through storytelling and multimedia content.
    • Serve as a spokesperson for the school, responding to media inquiries and, with the Head, representing the institution at community events, conferences, and networking opportunities.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, nonprofit management, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in development, fundraising, communications, or a related field, preferably in an educational or nonprofit setting.
    • Proven track record of successfully soliciting major gifts, securing grants, and meeting fundraising goals.
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and engage diverse audiences.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with donors, volunteers, board members, and other stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in digital marketing tools, content management systems, and social media platforms.
    • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement long-term plans while managing multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
