Organizer

Overview:

Climate Defiance is hiring an organizer. This person will organize Climate Defiance actions and events in their city. Additionally, you will lead and coordinate direct actions that publicly challenge corporate executives and elected officials regarding their climate stance.

Location:

Very strong preference will be given to candidates in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Boston, NYC, Chicago, and Houston, though we may be open to considering ideal applicants in other major population centers.

You are a collaborative and empathetic leader, deeply invested in team building. Your adeptness in team development is bolstered by your robust communication and organizational proficiencies. Committed to social change, you champion racial, economic, and environmental justice. As a self-starter, you excel in executing, implementing, and troubleshooting without excessive oversight. Your convictions align with the principles of nonviolent confrontation, direct action, and disruption.

Qualifications:

• Professional Experience: Minimum of 2years of organizing or campaigning experience. We may be flexible on this requirement for the perfect candidate.
• Turnout experience: We seek someone with experience recruiting and turning out volunteers to actions.
• Team Management: Experience managing teams of volunteers. Staff management experience is great but not required.
• Conflict Resolution: Experience in leading systematic conflict resolution.
• Direct Action Involvement: Active participation in and leadership of direct actions.
• Willingness to Travel: Flexibility and readiness to engage in extensive travel for actions and site visits.

Salary: $62400 annually (Note: Our organization adheres to a flat pay scale, ensuring equal compensation for all members. Stated otherwise, everyone has the same salary here.)

Vacation: Full-time employees are eligible for 20 days of paid vacation each year.

Holiday Leave: Climate Defiance observes 8 paid holidays throughout the course of the year. Additionally, our operations are closed between Christmas Eve and New Years Day each year and the day following Thanksgiving.

Additional Leave: Each full-time employee is eligible for 5 sick days and 2 personal days.
