    Climate Advisers—a respected research and public policy group dedicated to strengthening climate action in the United States and around the world—seeks a Communications Associate to provide in person communications support for one of its partners, the BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group (“TIG”), as well as help develop and execute the firm’s communications strategies and grow its communications consulting practice. The ideal candidate will have interest and experience in both communications and finance, as well as using traditional media, social media and other communications tools to achieve measurable results.     This is a full-time, 3-year funded (renewable), regular position based in either New York, NY, or Seattle, WA. 75% of the role will be supporting TIG, in-person, in either their New York or Seattle office, and 25% of the role will be performed remotely (at home, a shared-working space, etc.) supporting other Climate Advisers’ projects.

    Position Summary

    The Communications Associate will play a crucial role in supporting TIG’s communication strategy, improving coordination both internally within the BTG Pactual network, and externally with the rest of the Climate Advisers’ team. This individual will be responsible for creating and disseminating compelling content across various platforms, ensuring consistent and effective messaging that aligns with TIG’s brand and mission, together with supporting other communications tasks for Climate Advisers’ broader networks.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Internal Communications: Support internal communication efforts by coordinating with both the TIG and BTG teams, as well as Climate Advisers and FSB (BTG’s comms agency) to collect input, gather content, and manage project deadlines.
    • Content Creation: Develop, write, and edit high-quality content for press releases, newsletters, blog posts, social media, website updates, and other marketing materials; create and distribute updates, newsletters, and announcements to employees and stakeholders.
    • Social Media Management: Manage social media accounts by creating engaging content, scheduling posts, and monitoring interactions to increase brand awareness and engagement. This position will also help oversee paid campaigns, including working with external contractors.
    • Events Calendar: Manage and maintain an events calendar, collecting information on speaking or attendance opportunities and convening regular calls to make decisions about participation.
    • Public Relations: Assist in coordinating PR efforts, including media outreach, preparing press kits, and maintaining relationships with key media contacts.
    • Brand Management: Ensure consistency in branding and messaging across all communication channels and materials.
    • Research: Conduct research on industry trends, audience preferences, and competitive analysis to inform content strategy and improve communication efforts.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field. Some coursework related to finance or forestry will be looked on favorably.
    • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
    • Proficiency in social media platforms and management tools.
    • Strong organizational and project management skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Familiarity with sustainable investment and environmental issues is a plus.
    • Excellent design sense and visual storytelling ability. Proficiency in graphic design and video editing software is a plus.
    • Deep commitment to Climate Advisers’ mission of strengthening climate action in the United States and around the world.
    • Articulate, versatile and highly skilled writer, comfortable working within a high-paced, deadline-driven environment.
    • Adaptable to rapidly changing priorities and able to manage multiple deadlines.
    • Meticulous attention to detail in writing, editing, and managing content.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with diverse audiences.
    • Critical thinker who can analyze complex and technical content and convey it in an engaging and accessible manner to diverse audiences.
    • Prior experience in a communications internship or entry level communications position desired, preferably within the forestry, finance or investment industry.
    • Experience working with reporters or members of the media preferred.
    • International experience or prior work in a global organization preferred.

    Location

    This role is located in TIG’s New York or Seattle office; Climate Advisers’ portion of work will be performed remotely (outside of TIG’s offices; at home, a shared-working space, etc.). Periodic travel within the US and internationally required.

    Compensation and Benefits

    Salary range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000 annually depending on skills and experience. Climate Advisers offers an excellent benefits package including:
