Part Time Math Instructor K-12

For the past 10 years, TEACH has been supporting students 1-on-1 and in small group settings with exceptional academic, test prep, and enrichment lessons. Our strong connections to local schools and non-profit organizations offer unique opportunities for tutor contractors to be classroom instructors in addition to providing local families with 1-on-1 support. At TEACH we believe tutoring can be a bridge that helps make content more accessible for all students.

We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic educators who are ready to dismantle the educational barriers that students and families face and open up educational opportunities through tutoring.

Priority Tutor Positions for the 2024-2025 School Year

We are looking for multiple Math Instructors with prior tutoring experience and daytime availability.

Math Instructor:

This is a part time employee position, working with an average of 2-5 students in person during small group pullout instruction or classroom-based instruction working with 15-25 students.

• Commitment: The commitment is between 6 to 25 hours per week. The instructor would need to be available anytime from Monday thru Friday, 8:45am-3:30pm. Exact schedule will be provided.
• Locations include: West Philly, North Philly, Roxborough, Camden, Trenton and Willingboro NJ. Tutors must be open to traveling on-site to this area.
• Start date: mid January

Required Qualifications

K-12 Math Instructor

• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
• 1-2 years of experience in 1-on-1 or in a small group/classroom setting
• Interest in tutoring with TEACH for 1+ years
• Available to travel locally in the Greater Philadelphia and New Jersey Area for in-person lessons
• Ability to complete federal and state background checks and clearances
• A zest for learning and the spark to share and build knowledge with students!

Preferred Qualifications

Math Instructor

• Experience working with ESL students.
• A masters in education and/or additional certification in reading or math
• 2-5 years of experience tutoring or teaching in a 1-on-1, small group, or classroom setting
• Understanding of student-centered learning practices and high impact tutoring
• Ability to also teach higher level math (9th grade and up)
• Test Prep (SAT and/or ACT) experience

Tutor Responsibilities

• Prepare engaging lessons and materials to meet students’ needs
• Connect with students from diverse backgrounds and educational experiences to maximize their academic potential and to help them achieve their goals
• Communicate with TEACH office staff and parents/guardians to coordinate tutoring lessons and check-in about student progress in a punctual manner and with attention to detail
• Submit time-sensitive information using our database and other online documentation

Compensation

$50 per hour

TEACH’s tutoring approach starts with building strong relationships to promote both academic and social-emotional development through creative, engaging lessons. In a typical academic year, we serve upward of 1000 students through classes and 1-on-1 tutoring, 150 educators through teacher professional development, and coordinate partnership programs with 20+ local schools, charter networks, or nonprofits. The majority of our partnerships extend over multiple years and grant cycles.
