Location: Hybrid with 3 or more days/week required in the SE Portland office

Now in a period of growth, Dougy Center is more than halfway through a capital campaign to create another permanent home on the Westside. Because of this growth and need to build resources and ongoing support for the mission, Dougy Center seeks to create a new culture of relational philanthropy internally and externally. The Development Director will play a key role in creating an environment that focuses on learning, best practices, high integrity, and empowerment to contribute to the mission. A strategic leader with excellent team-building and organizational skills will guide our dedicated development team to the next level of professional growth and fundraising success, utilizing their unique strengths and skills. Overall, the Development Director is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and significantly expanding annual fundraising initiatives.
DEVELOPMENT TEAM
The Chief Advancement Officer supervises the Development Director and directly leads the Westside Capital Campaign in collaboration with the Executive Director and a professional campaign counsel. The Development Director oversees a team of fundraising professionals: Annual Gifts Manager, Advancement Services Manager, Special Events & Corporate Partnerships Manager, and Development Assistant. The Major Gifts Officer is currently supervised by the Chief Advancement Officer.
ABOUT YOU
You are an experienced fundraising leader with a solid track record of building deep donor relationships, using a hands-on approach to cultivate and steward donors so they are inspired to give generously and consistently. Your strong emotional intelligence sets a positive tone, along with your clear and kind communication and listening. You can speak comfortably at events, directly with donors, and collaboratively with the staff team. As a staff leader, you see and explain the big picture and how operational effectiveness contributes to overall success. You are adept at prioritizing and communicating to others about priorities, even when many tasks feel important and urgent. Your collaborative work style focuses on transparency, inclusivity, and shared success, inspiring alignment and fostering trust.
