    About the Role

    What You'll Do

    Reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer (CRO), the Vice President of Key Relationships (VPKR) will oversee all major donor giving through the management of our​ Key Relationships and Key Relationships Experience teams. You'll be responsible for generating​ exponential growth of major donor revenue, with a focus on major donor acquisition, cultivation, and​ overall donor experience. In partnership with the CRO, the VPKR will design and​ implement an ambitious and sustainable development strategy to increase philanthropic revenue from a​ diverse portfolio of high-net-worth donors around the United States and across the globe. You'll be responsible for raising and growing major donor revenue for both water projects and operations (overhead) funding for our unique​ 100% model.

    This role will​ assist in the mentorship and development of this multi-channel team of fundraisers to achieve impressive results​ revenue and renewal targets year over year while delivering excellent stewardship experiences for our​ donor communities. As a dynamic thinker, communicator and manager, you'll develop and manage an ambitious major donor​ fundraising strategy, driving exponential growth for the organization.

    The key responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:

    • Working with Development department leaders to create and deliver a clearly defined major gifts fundraising strategy, including short and long-term measurable KPIs and growth goals for each fundraising channel and each member of the team
    • Growing and developing the fundraising team, employing a coaching mentality to reinforce team members' goal attainment and ongoing professional development
    • Partnering with the VP of Revenue Operations and Analytics, you'll drive fundraising best practices, including systems utilization, prospecting, donor reporting, data review, and donor communications
    • Partnering with Marketing and Growth on the creation of the revenue pipeline, you'll work closely with the major gifts teams to create a cohesive and integrated experience that includes a robust fundraising plan in strategic markets
    • Collaborating with the Marketing and Creative teams, you'll develop creative and impactful content and reporting that connects major donors with our work and their impact to increase renewal rates and gift size
    • Working with the Key Relationships and Key Relationships Experience teams, you'll plan and execute cultivation and stewardship events for major donors throughout the year
    • Developing and executing the major donor fundraising strategy for the annual gala, charity ball, and Well dinners
    • Creating major gift strategies and campaigns for new fundraising initiatives
    • Carry a small portfolio of select major donors

    Who You'll Work With

    You will report to the Chief Revenue Officer.

    You will supervise the Key Relationships and Key Relationships Experience teams.

    Required Skills and Experience

    • 12+ years of successful nonprofit fundraising experience with a focus on major gifts
    • 10+ years of experience and proven record of growing and managing development staff and/or regional fundraisers toward increasing levels of success
    • Demonstrated experience raising $20 million, annually
    • Proven success in soliciting and closing 6 and 7-figure gifts from a diverse group of major donors
    • A consistent track record of creating and executing effective fundraising strategies for diverse revenue streams
    • A demonstrated ability for handling multiple, complex fundraising initiatives in a fast-paced environment
    • The ability to drive innovation, change, and growth, and be a detail-oriented implementer who can mobilize small teams to translate strategy into results
    • The ability to inspire and hold internal and external stakeholders accountable (including funders, peers, direct managers and reports, board members, and donors)
    • A strong utilization of technology and information systems (i.e. Salesforce and Jira)
    • A bachelor's degree
    • A master's degree in Marketing, Business or Nonprofit Management preferred

    Compensation

    The target salary for this role is $200K, and commensurate with experience. charity: water also offers annual bonus potential through The Pool.
