Our mission

Launched in 2005 in Detroit, Issue Media Group (IMG) publishes vital journalism that moves communities forward. Telling stories about impact from the ground up through a solutions-oriented, narrative journalism approach, our publications lift up their community's most visionary and active people, businesses, and organizations. IMG publications focus on coverage of issues most important to the communities we serve, such as sustainability, transportation, arts and culture, talent, design, neighborhood growth and revitalization, small businesses and entrepreneurship, and social innovation.

Our model

We work with like-minded stakeholders who have shared values and missions through an underwriting model of publishing. Our work is editorially independent, but the financial support of our partners allows us to dedicate and expand our attention to issues and ideas of common interest and community impact. Our content is freely available - no paywalls - but readers may support our journalism with voluntary contributions.
