    What You Will Be Doing In This Role:

    The Senior Staff Accountant collaborates with the Finance Team to oversee daily accounting functions and procedures, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions. The Senior Staff Accountant's areas of responsibilities include:

    • G/L reconciliation
    • All company ledgers, accruals, prepaids, deferrals, and journal entries
    • Accounts Payable and credit card expense accounts
    • Billing and A/R Collections
    • Payroll (utilizing PEO service provider)
    • 401k (utilizing Financial Services provider)
    • Month End close
    • Year End close
    • Tax payments / compliance
    • 1099s
    • Documentation of procedures and controls
    • Travel for in-person work meetings and company gatherings is required (Very infrequent).
    • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but could serve as a coach and mentor for other team members.

    What You Bring To The Table:

    • Professional level knowledge of accounting and payroll practices
    • Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel – must be very strong in pivot tables, xlookups, and other advanced Excel functions
    • Strong technical accounting knowledge, understands the different cycles and GAAP
    • Strong knowledge of the Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss accounts and their relationships
    • Ability to handle confidential information with tact
    • Ability to work independently with the required discipline, as well as collaboratively within our team
    • Ability to take charge of necessary responsibilities before requested
    • Ability to document detailed procedures, assess controls, and evaluate areas for improvements to be brought to the departmental Manager
    • Flexible with and welcome change as we continue to improve and streamline our processes
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 Suite
    • Ability to plan agendas and convey expertise

    Other Nice to Have Qualifications:

    • Appreciation and understanding of the Non-profit industry
    • 3+ Years working in progressively more challenging Accounting roles
    • BS/BA in Accounting is strongly preferred
