    Summary

    As a Senior Data Solutions Consultant, you design, implement, and optimize data infrastructure and solutions that empower our nonprofit clients. Collaborating with the JCA Professional Services team of consultants, you translate client needs into impactful data strategies, driving positive change. Your expertise across the full data lifecycle—from extraction and cleansing to integration and data pipeline construction—is essential. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape our service offerings and contribute directly to our continued growth.

    Responsibilities

    Data Engineering and Design

    • Extract data from diverse sources, including databases and APIs, ensuring timely and accurate data retrieval.
    • Lead efforts to cleanse, validate, and transform data, maintaining high standards of data quality and consistency.
    • Design and build robust data pipelines to automate data ingestion, transformation, and loading processes, ensuring efficiency and reliability.
    • Integrate data from multiple sources into a unified data platform, enabling comprehensive data analysis and reporting.
    • Design and support the implementation of scalable data storage solutions, such as data warehouses and data lakes, to support business needs.
    • Optimize data storage and retrieval processes to enhance performance and scalability.
    • Ensure all work and client solutions conform to data security and relevant compliance standards, protecting sensitive information.
    • Maintain thorough documentation of data processes, pipelines, and architectures.
    • Provide technical guidance and support to clients and internal teams, assisting with project planning, implementation, troubleshooting, and best practices.

    Consulting

    • Deliver high-quality consulting services to nonprofit clients, addressing their unique needs and challenges.
    • Understand, explore, use, make decisions with, and communicate using data.
    • Collaborate with clients to understand their unique requirements and develop tailored solutions to effectively align technology and data with strategy.
    • Provide clear and actionable recommendations to the client, supported by detailed documentation and analysis.
    • Expand consulting expertise through continuous learning and development to enhance JCA’s offerings and contribute to a diverse range of projects.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to share knowledge and contribute to the development of internal resources, thought leadership, and new offerings.

    Client Relationship Management

    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with prospects and clients to enhance the organization’s reputation and influence.
    • Identify opportunities for new and expanded projects.

    Skills

    You are successful as the Senior Data Solutions Consultant because you:

    • have strong SQL programming skills and experience with database design and optimization;
    • are able to extract data from diverse sources, including relational databases (e.g. SQL Server, MySQL), cloud-based data storage (e.g. Snowflake, AWS, Microsoft Fabric), APIs (e.g. REST, SOAP), and various file formats (e.g. JSON, XML, CSV);
    • have knowledge of current trends and best practices in data solutions, including emerging technologies and methodologies;
    • demonstrate the ability to adapt to changing priorities and learn new technologies quickly and effectively;
    • have experience working with or within nonprofit organizations, understanding their unique challenges and opportunities;
    • contribute to project planning, including defining scope, estimates, timelines, and deliverables;
    • communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical audiences through excellent written and verbal communication skills;
    • work effectively in a collaborative team environment, contributing positively to group dynamics and shared goals;
    • are highly organized and manage your time well, prioritizing tasks, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and consistently meeting deadlines; and
    • are proactive and self-motivated, taking initiative and working independently with minimal supervision.

    Qualifications

    You are qualified for the position because you:

    • have a minimum of three years’ experience as a computer science, data, or technical engineer or equivalent with demonstrable experience in SQL programming, software development, ETL processes, and nonprofit CRM data structures.

    You have an advantage in the position if you:

    • have experience working with Blackbaud CRM or The Raiser’s Edge, Kindsight ascend, Salesforce NPC or NPSP, or Tessitura data structures; and
    • have one or more Microsoft Certifications specific to Azure or Power Platform.

    Requirements

    You may be required to:

    • work remotely from a home office or other remote space;
    • work 40 hours per week, as this is a full-time position;
    • travel up to three times per year; and/or
    • remain in a stationary position for the majority of an eight-hour workday.
