    Description

    Overview

Fruitslice is seeking a passionate, detail-oriented Submission Coordinator to join our volunteer team. This role is central to the operational and organizational backbone of our editorial processes. We're looking for someone who can ensure that all aspects of our literary workflow run smoothly and collaboratively.

    Responsibilities

    Submission Coordinator will:

    • Oversee Editorial Logs: Keep all editorial logs accurate and up-to-date.
    • Facilitate Submissions Management:
      • Organize and track submissions on Submittable.
      • Add tags, assign pieces to the appropriate readers, and follow up on feedback forms.
      • Ensure genres are listed and due dates are set clearly.
    • Maintain the Miro Board:
      • Track page guidelines, goals, and layout organization.
      • Add all accepted pieces to the Miro board and organize them for editorial planning.
    • Collaborate with Design: Ensure the design team stays informed of accepted and rejected pieces.
    • Engage with Literary Conversations: Participate in discussions about literary content, while focusing primarily on the operational and managerial side of the process.
    • Support Other Departments: During quieter periods, assist with other initiatives like Noise Made By, our smaller zine-style publication.

    Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

    • Has a strong literary background and an understanding of editorial processes.
    • Is detail-oriented and enjoys organization, structure, and clear communication.
    • Is proficient in tools like Slack, Zoom, Submittable, Miro, and Google Sheets.
    • Is a self-starter who thrives in a remote, asynchronous environment with occasional Zoom meetings and regular Slack updates.
    • Aligns with Fruitslice’s mission of fostering Queer voices and understands the urgency of our work in the face of systemic silencing and erasure.
    • Is comfortable with a workload that fluctuates (e.g., busier post-submission deadlines, lighter during off periods).

    What We Offer

    • A deeply fulfilling opportunity to contribute to a bold, Queer, and unapologetic literary mission.
    • Flexibility to accommodate global time zones and fluctuating schedules.
    • Optional open Zoom hours for connection, collaboration, or questions.
    • The chance to be part of a collaborative, creative, and driven team working to uplift marginalized voices.

    Commitment

    • Remote & Flexible: Work asynchronously, with occasional Zoom check-ins.
    • Variable Workload: Expect more intensive work around submission deadlines and lighter workloads during quieter periods.
    • Minimum commitment of 6 months.

    We Especially Encourage Applications From:

QTBIPOC individuals, disabled people, and others from marginalized communities. Fruitslice is committed to creating an inclusive and celebratory environment that reflects the diversity of the voices we amplify.
