    About STEM Canada:

    STEM Canada is a registered not-for-profit global program specializing in an advanced, STEM-based educational curriculum emphasizing the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The STEM program is open to all students from preschool to high school with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and applications designed to teach students in the STEM fields, yielding globally competitive results.

    Position Overview:

    The Histology Teaching Assistant helps professors explain tissue form and function, prepare lab sessions, and guide students through microscopic anatomy and clinical applications.

    Location: Remote

    Time commitment: 2 to 6 hours per week

    Start Date: January 6, 2025

    Key Responsibility:

    • Lab Preparation: Help organize virtual or in-person lab sessions by preparing materials and providing access to histology slides and resources.
    • Lead discussion groups, provide virtual office hours and help students grasp complex histology structures and functions.
    • Grading and Feedback: Evaluate tests, assignments, and examinations and provide detailed, constructive feedback.
    • Resource management includes updating and managing histology slide archives as well as supplementary instructional resources.
    • Student Engagement: Lead conversations regarding the clinical implications of histology findings and effectively respond to student questions.
    • Technical Support: Help students use virtual lab instruments or software to see and analyze histology samples.

    Qualifications:

    • A bachelor's degree in biology, anatomy, or a similar discipline is required; graduate students with a histology concentration are encouraged.
    • strong understanding of histology methods, tissue structure, and function.
    • outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities.
    • It is advantageous to have prior experience teaching or tutoring anatomy or histology.
    • proficiency with histology imaging software and virtual microscopy technologies.
    • strong attention to detail and organizing abilities.
