    About STEM Canada:

    STEM Canada is a registered not-for-profit global program specializing in an advanced, STEM-based educational curriculum emphasizing the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The STEM program is open to all students from preschool to high school with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and application, designed to teach students in the STEM fields, yielding globally competitive results.

    Position Overview:

    The Hematology Teaching Assistant supports faculty in delivering courses focused on hematology, assisting students, and providing guidance to ensure a comprehensive understanding of blood-related sciences.

    Location: Remote

    Time commitment: 2 to 6 hours per week

    Key Responsibilities:

      • Teaching Support: Facilitate discussions, review sessions, and office hours for topics related to blood biology, hematopoiesis, and disorders.
      • Grading: Evaluate assignments, quizzes, and exams, while maintaining detailed student performance records.
      • Student Assistance: Help students grasp the fundamentals and advanced concepts of hematology, including laboratory techniques.
      • Material Preparation: Assist in developing study guides, lab manuals, and educational content.
      • Safety and Resources: Ensure students understand and adhere to lab safety protocols when applicable and maintain up-to-date resources.

    Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Medicine, or a related field; graduate students in medical or biological sciences are preferred.
      • Strong knowledge of hematology principles, including blood composition and related disorders.
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
      • Previous teaching or tutoring experience is a plus.
      • Ability to present complex scientific concepts in a clear and accessible manner.
      • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
