    Role Summary:

    We are seeking an experienced and skilled Grant Writer to join our team as a volunteer. This critical position will focus on securing funding opportunities to support Destiel’s growth and sustainability. The Grant Writer will be responsible for identifying, preparing, and submitting grant proposals to secure funding from government agencies, private foundations, and corporate entities.

    This role requires prior grant writing experience, particularly within the nonprofit sector. Ideal candidates will have a proven track record of securing grants and a strong understanding of funding research, proposal development, and compliance requirements.

    Responsibilities:

    Grant Research & Identification

    • Research and identify relevant grant opportunities aligned with Destiel’s mission and programs.
    • Stay updated on new funding sources, grant cycles, and eligibility requirements.

    Proposal Development & Writing

    • Prepare compelling, well-structured grant proposals tailored to specific funders.
    • Work closely with the leadership team to align proposals with funding priorities and organizational needs.
    • Develop detailed budgets and supporting documentation to accompany proposals.

    Grant Submission & Compliance

    • Manage the grant application process to ensure timely submission of high-quality proposals.
    • Maintain accurate records of submitted proposals, funding status, and deadlines.
    • Ensure all submitted grants comply with funding guidelines and organizational policies.

    Reporting & Relationship Management

    • Monitor grant requirements, deliverables, and reporting obligations to ensure compliance.
    • Gather necessary data from internal teams for progress reports and funder updates.
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with grant-making organizations, ensuring continued funding opportunities.

    Qualifications:

    • Proven experience in grant writing, preferably within the nonprofit sector.
    • Demonstrated track record of securing grants from government agencies, private foundations, or corporate donors.
    • Strong research and analytical skills to identify suitable funding opportunities.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a focus on persuasive writing.
    • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
    • Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced nonprofit environment.
    • Passion for LGBTQ+ advocacy and commitment to Destiel’s mission.
