CONTACT is a 24/7 Crisis Intervention & Suicide Prevention Hotline seeking volunteers to answer the phones. CONTACT Training is given twice a year, Spring & Fall. This program emphasizes active listening skills while taking time out to identify the special needs of our callers. Group discussions address topics such as loneliness, depression, suicide, grief, marriage/family, substance abuse and domestic violence. We require our volunteers to work three, four-hour shifts per month.
NEXT TRAINING BEGINS Tuesday, February 18, 2025, 6:30 - 9:30 pm at CHRIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH, 415 Washington Street, Toms River, NJ 08753, TWICE a week for 6 weeks, every Tuesday & Thursday, followed by an on-site apprenticeship. Crisis Hotline Volunteers needed for CONTACT of Ocean & Monmouth Counties’ training beginning Tuesday, February 18, 2025, TWICE a week, for 6 WEEKS from 6:30-9:30 P.M. Training will be held at CHRIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH, 415 Washington St., Toms River, NJ 08753. CONTACT is a 24-hour crisis intervention hotline that also provides information & referral to community resources. All calls are free, confidential and anonymous. Training is free.
