    Description

The YWCA Indigenous Mentorship Program is seeking applications for mentors to participate in 2024's Indigenous Mentor Circle.

This program is open to self-identified Indigenous women, Two-Spirit, trans, non-binary and gender nonconforming people looking to connect with other folk of those identities within the Indigenous community. As a volunteer mentor, we invite you to share your personal medicine in our monthly peer mentorship circles with the help of skilled Indigenous facilitators. Mentors will also have the opportunity to mentor and connect in circle with self-identified Indigenous youth (mentees). There is further opportunity to deepen your cultural connections and explore identity, reciprocity, re-Indigenization and solidarity by being a part of our ongoing talking circles, workshops, crafts, games, and other activities.

When: Every 3rd Sunday from 11 AM - 2 PM

Where: On Zoom, in-person events TBA

Are you interested in helping create a supportive Indigenous community for peers and mentees? In the circle, you will:

    • Make new friends and join a welcoming community, where you can chat about anything from pop culture to world events, to personal and life experiences
    • Connect with and gain support and advice from other self-identified Indigenous role models
    • Celebrate our Indigenous cultures and explore social and gender issues together
    • Take part in a variety of fun cultural activities, games, and discussions, and explore Indigenous media, current events, music and art
    • Gain facilitation skills, self-esteem, and opportunities to reflect on your life goals and personal experiences

This program is only open to self-identified Indigenous women and gender diverse folks. We welcome members of the Two-Spirit, Trans, Non-Binary, Queer and Disabled communities.
