    Description

    STEM Canada is a registered not-for-profit global program that specializes in an advanced, bar-none STEM-based educational curriculum that emphasizes the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The STEM program is open to all students from preschool to high school with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and application, designed to teach students in the STEM fields, yielding globally competitive results.

    Location: Remote

    Time commitment: 2 meetings per week, 30 minutes (days and times TBD by group); 1 – 2 hours per week planning and execution

    Description: The Engineering Steering Committee oversees and leads the engineering department's projects and initiatives, ensuring governance and strategic direction. Committee members are crucial in influencing the direction and achievement of engineering projects in the organization through policy establishment, quality monitoring, and resource management.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Offer supervision and guidance for all engineering projects and initiatives.

    • Create and put into effect guidelines for the operations of the engineering department.

    • Build and uphold strategic alliances with industry experts and research institutions.

    • Supervise and guarantee the standard and uniformity of engineering programs and outcomes.

    • Supervise the distribution of resources, such as money and staff, to assist in carrying out a project.

    • Monitor and evaluate engineering projects' performance in relation to objectives, schedules, and finances.

    • Recognize and reduce possible dangers linked with engineering tasks.

    • Promote creativity and back projects aimed at advancing research and development within the department.

    • Keep yourself updated on new developments and advancements in the field of engineering.

    Requirements:

    • Substantial background in engineering management or a similar field.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.

    • Solid grasp of engineering principles, practices, and industry standards.

    • Creative mindset with the ability to think outside the box and develop innovative  strategies.

    • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

    • Passion for STEM education and commitment to promoting STEM literacy and application.

    • Capacity to examine intricate data and form educated conclusions.

    • Cultural sensitivity and ability to engage with a diverse global audience.
