    Description

    AIGA's DC chapter seeks a Communications Director to join the Board of Directors.

    Join the dynamic AIGA DC board, a team of 20+ volunteers driving local programming and communications for creatives in the vibrant DMV region! It’s your chance to shape and uplift the creative community, gaining leadership skills, making connections, and enjoying the company of an amazing group of passionate volunteers—all while attending AIGA DC events for free!

    Overview

    The Communications Director oversees chapter processes, procedures, and protocol and maintains appropriate records of all chapter activities related to marketing and communications. 

    The Communications Director is a member of the Executive Leadership team and reports to the President.

    General

    • Oversee the development and implementation of the chapter communications and marketing efforts 
    • Collaborate with the Communications Team to establish and enforce an Editorial Calendar
    • Ensure the chapter maintains and follows the chapter style guide with reference to national guidelines
    • Serves as the editor-in-chief for all chapter communications, reviewing all written materials to ensure consistency and quality of grammar, voice, and tone across AIGA DC properties. 
    • Ensure chapter communications processes are up-to-date and communicated to board and committees
    • Manage committees’ communications expectations regarding email announcements, social media, site posts, slack engagement and other related media coverage. 
    • Develop and oversee resources and committees to execute marketing and communications initiatives
    • Provides mentorship and professional development opportunities for board members
    • Monitor the social media messages, comments and general email address and direct inquiries to the appropriate team/board member
    • Assists President in updating chapter bylaws, setting policies and managing operations
    • Maintain the chapter’s Event Recording Archive

    Deliverables 

    • AIGA DC Communications Strategy, including editorial calendar, content grid, communications year-at-a-glance, and event recording archive
    • Maintain Communications Process Documents including Style Guide Reference and Process Updates. 
    • Monthly Overview of Communication Channels for the executive and all-board meetings with a detailed breakdown of email engagement, social media metrics, site posts, and Slack engagement. 
    • Assist with agendas for meetings and retreats
