    Position Overview

    The Clothes for Change initiative of the West Africa Volunteers Development Initiative (WAVDI) focuses on repurposing shoes and clothing to provide relief and opportunities for vulnerable communities in Liberia. Each year, thousands of usable clothes and shoes are thrown away, while many children and families struggle without appropriate attire.

    This program is designed to collect, process, and distribute clothing and footwear to those in need. A key focus is ensuring that children have the necessary footwear to attend school and that underserved communities receive essential clothing items, reducing the impact of poverty and promoting sustainable development.

    The Program Coordinator will lead efforts in awareness creation, community engagement, donation mobilization, and logistics management to ensure the successful implementation of the initiative.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Community Awareness & Engagement
      • Develop and distribute flyers, posters, and promotional materials to raise awareness about the initiative.
      • Organize community outreach activities to encourage donations and partnerships.
      • Engage local schools, churches, businesses, and community groups to set up collection points.
    2. Donor & Partnership Development
      • Create and maintain a donor database to track contributions and engagement.
      • Make outreach calls to potential donors, businesses, and organizations to solicit their support.
      • Establish and manage designated clothing and shoe collection sites.
    3. Collection, Sorting & Processing
      • Oversee the collection, sorting, and processing of donated clothing, shoes, and other items.
      • Coordinate a volunteer team to clean, wash, repair, and package items for redistribution.
      • Ensure proper quality control by reconditioning and ironing clothing before distribution.
    4. Distribution & Impact Monitoring
      • Conduct needs assessments to identify communities most in need of assistance.
      • Organize and lead distribution efforts to vulnerable communities and disaster relief sites.
      • Maintain records of distributed items and report on program impact.

    Qualifications & Skills

    βœ… Strong passion for community service and poverty alleviation.

    βœ… Experience in program coordination, social work, or community development (preferred but not required).

    βœ… Strong organizational and teamwork skills.

    βœ… Excellent communication and outreach abilities.

    βœ… Ability to mobilize volunteers and coordinate logistics.

    βœ… Basic skills in record-keeping, inventory management, and reporting.
