Position Overview:
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Virtual Volunteer Course Designer to join our team. As a Course Designer, you will collaborate with a diverse group of educators and developers to design engaging, effective, and innovative courses that align with STEM Canada’s educational goals. This is a unique opportunity to hone your instructional design skills while contributing to the development of educational resources that will have a lasting impact on students worldwide.
Key Responsibilities:
● Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design and develop STEM courses that meet educational objectives and engage a diverse student population.
● Design course outlines, lesson plans, and assessments that are aligned with best practices in STEM education.
● Incorporate interactive elements, multimedia, and hands-on activities to create dynamic and engaging learning experiences.
● Ensure course content is accessible and inclusive, taking into consideration the diverse needs and learning styles of all students.
● Regularly review and update course materials to reflect the latest trends and advancements in STEM education.
● Conduct pilot testing of courses to gather feedback and make necessary adjustments before broader implementation.
● Develop and maintain comprehensive course documentation, including objectives, materials, and assessment tools.
● Stay current with educational technology trends and recommend tools and platforms that can enhance the learning experience.
● Provide ongoing support and revisions to courses based on user feedback and educational outcomes.
Requirements:
● Experience in instructional design, curriculum development, or a related field, with a focus on STEM education.
● Strong understanding of educational theories and best practices, particularly in STEM subjects.
● Ability to design engaging, student-centered learning experiences that incorporate multimedia and interactive elements.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey complex ideas and instructions.
● Strong collaboration skills to work effectively in a remote, virtual team environment.
● Self-motivated and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines independently.
● Commitment to continuous learning and professional development, especially in educational technology and STEM pedagogy.
