    Description

    About the Role

Fruitslice is looking for passionate and reliable Editors and Copy Editors to join our team for Noise Made By, a zine-style mini publication created in between our larger quarterly magazine issues. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with a dynamic, fully remote team on a project specifically focused on Queer artists, musicians, and music journalism, all written and created entirely by Queer creators.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Collaborate with the team to workshop, edit, and proofread pieces.
    • Participate in team discussions via Slack and Zoom, contributing to the creative and editorial process.
    • Actively identify areas where your skills can be helpful without needing constant oversight—self-starters thrive here.
    • Support the publication during varying levels of workflow, with heavier involvement during production cycles.

    Optional Opportunities

    • Potential to contribute as a staff writer for Noise Made By, creating your own pieces alongside editing responsibilities.
    • Collaborate with other departments at Fruitslice to keep engaged during slower editorial periods and support long-term retention.

    What We’re Looking For

    • Experience in editing and a passion for editorial work.
    • Someone who is Queer and has a deep interest in music, music journalism, and Queer arts.
    • Strong reliability and independence—this role requires someone who can take initiative and engage without constant follow-up.
    • A creative and collaborative spirit, ready to work closely with a team of like-minded individuals.

    Time Commitment & Structure

    • A minimum of approximately 5–10 hours per week.
    • Most of the work is asynchronous, allowing for flexibility to fit your schedule.
    • Regular "office hours" Zoom meetings and Slack chats create opportunities to stay connected with the team, brainstorm, and collaborate in real-time.
    • A minimum commitment of two publication cycles (approximately 6 months).
    • Flexible hours, but with busier periods during crunch times.

    Why Join Fruitslice?

    • Work with a Queer-run publication.
    • Be part of a supportive, collaborative, and remote team.
    • Help shape a vibrant, creative publication that champions queer artists and musicians.

As part of a queer-run publication, you’ll gain:

    • Hands-on experience with editing, publishing, and collaborative creative processes.
    • Insight into the inner workings of a publication focused on amplifying marginalized voices.
    • The chance to develop your skills in a supportive, fully remote environment while networking with other passionate creatives.
    • An opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a project centered on Queer music, artists, and storytelling.
    • Whether you’re looking to grow as an editor, expand your knowledge of Queer arts and music journalism, or gain valuable experience for future roles, this position offers a unique learning environment.

We especially encourage applications from QTBIPOC individuals, disabled folks, and other marginalized communities. Fruitslice is committed to fostering an inclusive and celebratory environment that reflects the diversity of the voices we amplify.
