    Mentor a First-Generation College Student Today!

    The Peninsula College Fund is recruiting volunteers to serve as one-to-one mentors to a new class of talented first-generation college students. Mentors are supportive professionals that provide guidance, support, networking, and positive role modeling to a student throughout their entire college career.     Mentor Requirements:

    • Have a minimum of 3 years of professional experience and a Bachelor’s degree
    • Commit to supporting a first-generation college student from an historically underrepresented community (e.g Undocumented, DACA, LGBTQ+, etc).
    • Commit to a mentoring relationship for four years, or until graduation
    • Provide an average of 1 - 2 hours/month of meaningful social/emotional, college, and/or career support
    • Practice cultural humility and understand your positionality
    • Submit a quarterly update to PCF
    • Participate in at least one training every year and stay abreast of scholar support offered by the Peninsula College Fund
    • Adhere to a strict confidentiality agreement
    • Attend New Mentor Orientation June 2025 TBD
    • Attend PCF Awards Ceremony June 2025 TBD
    • Participate in PCF's career exploration fair July 12th 2025

    About the Recruitment Process:

    • Complete the Mentor Application: PCF reviews this information to learn more about you and your desire to mentor (and may use this information for matching purposes). You will be asked to submit contact information for 2 references, who will be automatically contacted via email for their submission. Deadline to apply: April 15th 2025
    • Interview: Candidates selected to advance in the process will be invited to a one hour virtual interview
    • Application Review & Background Check: PCF reviews all application & interview materials. Candidates selected to advance in the process will be contacted to begin a background check.
    • Final Status: Once PCF has received background check results, staff informs the candidate of their final status in the application process
    • Matching: Mentor recruitment happens on a rolling basis, however, matching will occurs in May/June 2025
