    About Special Olympics BC:

    Special Olympics BC (SOBC) provides year-round sports training and athletic competition for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Through sports, SOBC aims to empower athletes to showcase their abilities, build confidence, and experience the joy of participation and achievement.

    Position Description:

    Special Olympics BC - Burnaby is seeking a passionate and dedicated volunteer 10 and 5 Pin Bowling Coach to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with athletes with intellectual disabilities to develop their bowling skills, foster a love for the sport, and promote physical fitness and teamwork.

    Responsibilities:

    - Plan and lead 10 and 5-pin bowling training sessions tailored to athletes of varying skill levels

    - Provide personalized instruction and feedback to help athletes improve their technique and scores

    - Collaborate with volunteers to create an inclusive and supportive training environment

    - Prepare athletes for potential competitions, offering guidance and support during events

    - Encourage sportsmanship, respect, and camaraderie among athletes

    Qualifications:

    - Experience with 10 and/or 5-pin bowling, either as a participant or coach

    - Knowledge of bowling techniques, scoring, and safety practices (training can be provided)

    - Strong communication and interpersonal skills

    - Ability to motivate and inspire athletes of diverse backgrounds and abilities

    - Commitment to the mission and values of Special Olympics BC

    Time Commitment:

    - 1-2 hours per week for training sessions

    - Additional time may be required for competitions and events
