    Volunteer Job Listing: Artists of ALL kinds.

    Organization: DEFEND (Nonprofit) and 65square

    Position: We are looking for artists of all kinds: Digital, photo, music, painters, sculptors, dancers, etc to submit art pieces monthly (or however often you want) . Each month will be a different subject/topic for creation themes.

    Location: Remote (Weekly Zoom Meetings)

    About Us:

    DEFEND is a volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to reducing risks for children and vulnerable people online. We are currently building 65square, the world’s healthiest social media and dating platform, designed with game-like features and characteristics of an MMO. Our goal is to create a safer, more positive online space for users.

    Role Description:

    The Nonprofit Artist will utilize their artistic talents and skills to promote social change, educate communities, and enhance the cultural landscape through various art forms. This role involves creating and delivering performances, workshops, and educational programs that engage diverse audiences, particularly those in underserved or marginalized communities. The ideal candidate will be passionate about using the arts as a tool for advocacy and community building.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Artistic Creation and Performance:

    • Develop original works of art (music, dance, theater, visual arts) that address social justice themes.
    • Perform at community events, schools, hospitals, prisons, and other non-traditional venues to reach diverse audiences.
    • Collaborate with other artists to produce interdisciplinary projects that highlight important causes.

    Arts Education:

    • Design and implement educational programs that teach artistic skills to participants of all ages.
    • Conduct workshops in various settings (e.g., community centers, schools) focusing on creativity, self-expression, and the therapeutic benefits of art.
    • Mentor emerging artists from underrepresented backgrounds to foster their development.

    Community Engagement:

    • Build relationships with local organizations to identify community needs and tailor artistic initiatives accordingly.
    • Facilitate discussions around the impact of art on social issues within the community.
    • Organize events that showcase local talent while raising awareness for specific causes.

    Grant Writing and Fundraising:

    • Assist in writing grant proposals to secure funding for artistic projects and programs.
    • Participate in fundraising activities such as benefit performances or auctions to support nonprofit initiatives.
    • Maintain relationships with donors by providing updates on project outcomes and impacts.

    Administrative Duties:

    • Collaborate with nonprofit staff to develop strategic plans for arts programming.
    • Track project progress and outcomes through documentation and reporting.
    • Attend meetings with stakeholders to discuss program development and community feedback.

    Qualifications:

    • MUST be 18 years and above.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Arts Education, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
    • Proven experience as an artist in one or more disciplines (e.g., music, dance, theater).
    • Strong public speaking skills and ability to engage diverse audiences effectively.
    • Experience working with nonprofit organizations or community groups is highly desirable.
    • Knowledge of grant writing processes and fundraising strategies is a plus.
    • Passion for social justice issues and commitment to using art as a means for positive change.
