    About STEM Canada:

    STEM Canada is a registered not-for-profit global program specializing in an advanced, STEM-based educational curriculum emphasizing the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The STEM program is open to all students from preschool to high school with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and application, designed to teach students in the STEM fields, yielding globally competitive results.

    Position Overview:

    The Oncology Teaching Assistant supports faculty in delivering courses related to oncology, assists students in understanding cancer biology, and provides guidance to foster a deeper comprehension of the subject.

    Location: Remote

    Time commitment: 2 to 6 hours per week

    Key Responsibilities:

      • Teaching Support: Facilitate discussions, hold office hours, and assist in lectures on topics such as cancer biology, treatment modalities, and advancements in oncology.
      • Grading: Evaluate assignments, quizzes, and exams, and maintain accurate performance and attendance records.
      • Student Assistance: Help students understand complex oncology concepts, including cancer pathophysiology and treatment approaches.
      • Content Development: Assist in creating study materials, quizzes, and learning aids tailored to oncology topics.
      • Engagement: Foster an inclusive and supportive environment to enhance student learning experiences.

    Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Medicine, or a related field; graduate students specializing in oncology or related medical sciences preferred.
      • Strong knowledge of oncology concepts, including cancer mechanisms, diagnosis, and treatment strategies.
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
      • Prior teaching or tutoring experience is a plus.
      • Ability to simplify and effectively convey complex scientific concepts to diverse learners.
      • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
