    Description

    STEM Canada is a registered not-for-profit global program that specializes in an advanced, bar-none STEM-based educational curriculum that emphasizes the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The STEM program is open to all students from preschool to high school with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and application, designed to teach students in the STEM fields, yielding globally competitive results.

    Location: Remote

    Time commitment: 6 hours/week

    Description: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Compliance Officer Volunteer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that STEM Canada adheres to all regulatory requirements, organizational policies, and ethical standards. This position requires a strong understanding of compliance practices, exceptional organizational skills, and a commitment to supporting STEM Canada’s mission through effective compliance management.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Design, implement, and update compliance policies and procedures that align with STEM Canada’s mission and regulatory requirements. Ensure that all policies are effective and up-to-date.

    • Regularly review and monitor organizational practices to ensure compliance with internal policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements. Address any compliance issues or discrepancies that arise.

    • Develop and deliver training programs to educate staff, volunteers, and stakeholders about compliance policies, procedures, and best practices. Foster a culture of compliance within the organization.

    • Perform regular audits and assessments of organizational processes and practices to identify potential risks and areas for improvement. Prepare detailed reports on audit findings and recommendations.

    • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of compliance activities, including policy documents, audit reports, and compliance certificates. Ensure that all documentation is easily accessible and up-to-date.

    • Address inquiries related to compliance matters from staff, volunteers, and external stakeholders. Provide guidance and support to ensure that compliance requirements are understood and met.

    • Keep abreast of changes in regulations, industry standards, and best practices related to compliance. Recommend and implement changes to policies and procedures as needed.

    • Work closely with various departments, including finance, legal, and program management, to ensure that compliance requirements are integrated into organizational practices and initiatives.

    Requirements:

    • Demonstrated experience in compliance management, regulatory affairs, or a related field, with a strong understanding of compliance practices and principles.

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.

    • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing and managing compliance activities and documentation.

    • Ability to analyze complex regulations and organizational practices to identify compliance issues and recommend solutions.

    • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

    • Passion for STEM education and a commitment to supporting STEM Canada’s mission through effective compliance management.

    • Familiarity with compliance management software and tools. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is required.

    • Ability to engage with a diverse global audience and work within a multicultural environment.
