    Tyler Resource Center Volunteer Opportunities

    Several opportunities available: Pantry Prep Shift & Neighbor Assistance & Pantry Support

    Pantry Prep Shift Overview: The pantry prep shift encompasses a variety of essential tasks aimed at preparing the pantry for distribution.

    Stocking Shelves: Help us get our pantry shelves & produce bins ready for our Neighbors to shop by stocking shelves, filling coolers & freezers.

    Bagging and Sorting Produce: A critical part of the shift involves bagging fresh produce or loading produce bins. This includes sorting out any spoiled items and bagging produce in set quantities to ensure quality and consistency.

    Pantry Clean Up: Help us with tasks such as sweeping & mopping, wiping windows & doors, sanitizing carts & chairs, breaking down boxes, etc.

    Neighbor Assistance & Pantry Support Shift Overview: This shift is a unique opportunity to connect with the community, promote a dignified shopping experience, and ensure the pantry operates efficiently. Various roles within this shift and may vary each shift.

    Neighbor Intake in the Lobby: Volunteers will assist neighbors by performing intake tasks, which involve collecting key information for accurate records and obtaining signatures for release of information. This role requires basic typing skills and general computer competency.

    Assistance in the Pantry: Volunteers guide neighbors as they shop, providing information about available items, including meat and produce selections, while fostering a welcoming and supportive environment.

    Cart Management: Shopping carts are provided to help neighbors carry items to their vehicles. Volunteers will periodically retrieve carts from the parking lot.

    Stocking and Cleaning: Stocking shelves and cleaning tasks may continue during the shift, but volunteers must remain mindful of neighbors, ensuring clutter and boxes are managed to keep areas clear and safe.

    Office Admin: Help us with administrative tasks such as voicemail screening, returning calls, making copies, etc.
