    Please Don't Die Black Men (PDDBM) is a Vancouver, WA-based nonprofit organization committed to advancing equity and empowerment in African American/Black communities. Through transformative programs and events—such as fashion design, journalism, filmmaking, scholarships, and cultural celebrations like Kwanzaa and Black History Month—PDDBM inspires, educates, and equips individuals to thrive in a world of limitless possibilities.

    Role Overview

    PDDBM is seeking passionate individuals to join its Board of Directors as volunteer Executive Board Members. This role is hybrid/remote, providing flexibility while requiring a commitment to strategic leadership and advocacy for the organization’s mission. Board members will help guide PDDBM’s vision, ensure operational excellence, and support equity-focused initiatives.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide strategic leadership and direction to align with PDDBM’s mission.
    • Review and approve budgets, plans, and organizational policies.
    • Support fundraising efforts through outreach, donor cultivation, and contributions.
    • Act as a community ambassador, advocating for PDDBM’s goals.
    • Contribute insights to enhance programs in STEAM, fashion, journalism, and filmmaking.
    • Participate in key events, either virtually or in person, such as the Black History Month Fashion Show and Kwanzaa Celebration.

    Qualifications

    • Proven leadership experience, particularly in nonprofit or community organizations.
    • Strong commitment to advancing equity and inclusion within underserved communities.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in both virtual and in-person settings.
    • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
    • Passion for empowering African American/Black communities and youth.

    Time Commitment

    • Attend quarterly board meetings (virtual or in person).
    • Actively participate in at least one committee or initiative.
    • Engage in PDDBM’s events and fundraising efforts as needed.
