    Description

    The Fundraising Committee was formed in 2023 and is a standing committee with the goal of raising funds to ensure the financial viability and stability of Canine Miracles for Heroes organization. The individuals chosen to be committee members represent Canine Miracles for Heroes positively, respectfully, and upliftingly. Establish funding for goals in accordance with the mission of Canine Miracles for Heroes.

    Purpose

    The Fundraising Committee serves the Organization through the oversight of the board and CEO. To help obtain goals set forth by the Canine Miracles for Heroes board, through the preparation and implementation of fundraising opportunities.

    Objectives

    The Committee should support the following specific tasks:

    • Find cost-effective opportunities for the growth of the organization
    • Implement fundraising opportunities

    The CEO and Board president may add or remove tasks from time to time.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    COMMITTEE CHAIR

    • Help structure agenda for meetings and provide leadership for the committee
    • Serve as spokesperson for the Committee
    • Run an effective meeting to ensure the involvement of committee members and the advancement of activities.
    • Open communication with Canine Miracles for Heroes President of the Board, CEO, and Executive director of programming. Reporting back to the full board at the following board meeting.
    • Keep everyone (Committee members, CEO, and Executive Director of programming) informed of all proposal developments.
    • Identify and mentor the next Chair of the Committee.
    • Assist with the structure and selection of committee members
    • Ensure responsibilities are met in a timely manner.
    • Desire to advance the mission of Canine Miracles for Heroes
    • Ability to make the necessary time commitment.
    • Provide support seeking external funding for activities that serve the interest of Canine Miracles for Heroes.
    • Talking to and getting the appropriate information from the appropriate people when needed. (ex, treasure, CEO, etc.)
    • Provide research as needed for the committee
    • Send out meeting reminders, emails, and agendas
    • Create the quarterly board report
    • Bring forth ideas of new and possible ways to fundraise, keeping in mind cost-effectiveness.
    • Following all written financial responsibilities set forth (on a separate document)
    • Ensuring all monies are counted with another person on the committee and that the monies get to the CEO or Treasurer for deposit.
    • Attend all fundraising events

    COMMITTEE VICE-CHAIR

    • Support the Committee Chair to ensure responsibilities are met in a timely manner.
    • Serve as interim Committee Chair in the absence of the Chair.
    • Express a desire to service with a special interest in research and research potential fundraising development
    • Keep excellent recordings of each meeting and send minutes to each member no later than two weeks after each meeting.
    • Desire to advance the mission of Canine Miracles for Heroes
    • Ability to make the necessary time commitment.
    • Provide support seeking external funding for activities that serve the interest of Canine Miracles for Heroes.
    • Talking to and getting the appropriate information from the appropriate people when needed. (ex, treasure, CEO, etc.)
    • Bring forth ideas of new and possible ways to fundraise, keeping in mind cost-effectiveness.
    • Following all written financial responsibilities set forth (on a separate document)
    • Ensuring all monies are counted with another person on the committee and that the monies get to the CEO or Treasurer for deposit.
    • Attend all fundraising events

    COMMITTEE MEMBERS

    • Be prepared and actively participate in all conference calls and meetings.
    • Work on projects as delegated by the chair
    • Desire to advance the mission of Canine Miracles for Heroes
    • Ability to make the necessary time commitment.
    • Provide support seeking external funding for activities that serve the interest of Canine Miracles for Heroes.
    • Talking to and getting the appropriate information from the appropriate people when needed. (ex, treasure, CEO, etc.)
    • Bring forth ideas of new and possible ways to fundraise, keeping in mind cost-effectiveness.

    Requirements/ Responsibilities

      • Show enthusiasm and support for all fundraising opportunities;
      • Show passion for Canine Miracles for Heroes' Mission and vision
      • Have integrity, the ability to keep commitments, and the willingness to learn
      • Find, create, and implement fundraising opportunities throughout the county and the state that help to spread the message of Canine Miracles for Heroes mission and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
      • Help to create and organize various events to raise funds for the organization.
      • Identify potential individual donors and businesses who could potentially provide resources to Canine Miracles for Heroes.
      • Should be comfortable meeting with potential donors to ask for donations.
      • With support from committee members, the Board President, and CEO annually submit objectives and a work plan for the committee as part of the planning and budgeting process by September of each year.
      • Maintain and submit records to the committee and CEO, of where contacts have been made to avoid duplication
      • Keep track of any In-Kind donations donated and submit them to the CEO and Treasurer.
      • Work with the CEO / Executive director of programming to ensure that processes are in place for donor recognition and treasurer for IRS substantiation and categorized record keeping by source of income and donor.
      • With support from the CEO / ED of programming and/or board chair annually evaluate the work of the fundraising committee and evaluate the objectives met during the year. (Goals, evaluations, successes, fails, etc.) ((JANUARY Meeting with CEO))
      • Strong communication skills
      • Strong administrative skills and self-motivated with the ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks in an effective and efficient manner; and
      • Strong skills in Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
      • Strong knowledge of Canine Miracles for Heroes to explain to potential donors what we do, our mission, and our vision. Be able to answer questions regarding Canine Miracles for Heroes principles, policies, and procedures.
      • Have good networking skills and connections in the community.
      • The Committee shall keep the CEO and Board President informed at all times.
      • No fundraising shall be done without the consent of the Board President and the CEO.
      • Actively participate in meetings contributing to the discussion, brainstorming ideas, and sharing innovative ideas.
      • Review materials and provide input for improvement.
      • Participate in the development and implementation of the committee work plan
      • Be able to work with all kinds of people

    Expected Commitment

    The Committee meets at least quarterly in person or via conference call. However, can meet more often if needed. Terms for each member are 1-year terms with no limits to the number of terms.

    Committee members should anticipate being available an average of 1-2 hours per month.

    The Committee shall serve until dissolved by the CEO and Board of Directors.
