    Description

Morgan Duke Conservation Society is expanding its work to Saranac Lakes Wild Forest, where we are making plans for the protection of the ecosystem and wildlife in the area. Through our work, we welcome the community to join in our efforts to protect Saranac Lakes Wild Forest. We are a proud partner of Leave No Trace.

Volunteer will assist with clean-up of trails and campsites, removing garbage, and ensuring proper conditions are maintained along the trailheads, lake clear. Our volunteers can help paint trail gates in Saranac Lakes Wild Forest and other natural spaces, and they assist with projects that support the maintenance and preservation of the areas we service, such as the Town of North Elba and Saint Armand in Essex County, and the Towns of Brighton, Franklin, Harrietstown, Santa Clara and Tupper Lake in Franklin County in the Adirondacks.

Volunteers will maintain regular contact with the Volunteer Steward of the Morgan Duke Conservation Society, who will answer any questions, handle any concerns, and provide safety and/or volunteer supplies to assist with the conservation work. This is a seasonal volunteer position, and we welcome our dedicated volunteers back, year over year.

No previous experience or specific training is required for this volunteer position. We provide training, as well as safety materials to support the work of our volunteers. Our volunteers can work independently or as part of a team, and the working hours are flexible

Volunteers are provided with free supplies such as orange bags, trash pickers, gloves, volunteer uniform shirts, and workers' compensation coverage.
