Volunteer Job Listing: Augmented Reality (AR) Tester.

Organization: DEFEND (Nonprofit) and 65square

Position: We are creating a new social media platform called 65square, where everyone will be verified. Augmented Reality (AR) is a heavy component in the app. We are in need of testers for tech that will be related to AR features. About Us:

DEFEND is a volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to reducing risks for children and vulnerable people online. We are currently building 65square, the world’s healthiest social media and dating platform, designed with game-like features and characteristics of an MMO. Our goal is to create a safer, more positive online space for users.

Role Description:

The Augmented Reality (AR) Tester will be responsible for evaluating and ensuring the quality of AR applications developed by our organization. This role involves testing AR experiences across various devices and platforms(iPhone & Mac book), providing feedback to developers, and ensuring that our applications meet the highest standards of usability, functionality, and accessibility.

Key Responsibilities:

Testing AR Applications:

• Conduct thorough testing of AR applications on different devices (smartphones, tablets, AR glasses).
• Identify bugs, glitches, and usability issues during testing phases.
• Document test cases and results in a clear and organized manner.

User Experience Evaluation:

• Assess the overall user experience of AR applications from an end-user perspective.
• Provide constructive feedback on design elements, navigation, and interaction flows.
• Collaborate with UX/UI designers to enhance user engagement.

Collaboration with Development Team:

• Work closely with developers to communicate findings and suggest improvements.
• Participate in regular meetings to discuss project progress and testing outcomes.
• Assist in prioritizing bug fixes based on severity and impact on user experience.

Research & Development:

• Stay updated on the latest trends in augmented reality technology and testing methodologies.
• Explore new tools and techniques for effective AR testing.
• Contribute ideas for innovative features or enhancements based on user feedback.

Documentation & Reporting:

• Maintain detailed records of test plans, test cases, defects found, and resolutions.
• Prepare reports summarizing testing activities and outcomes for stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with organizational standards for documentation.

Training & Support:

• Provide support to users during beta testing phases or public launches.
• Assist in creating training materials or guides for end-users interacting with AR applications.

Qualifications:

• MUST be 18 years and above.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Game Design, or a related field preferred.
• Experience with augmented reality technologies (e.g., Unity3D, Vuforia, ARKit/ARCore).
• Familiarity with software testing methodologies and tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail).
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Skills:

• Previous experience in software testing or quality assurance roles is a plus.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards related to digital content is advantageous.
• Passion for emerging technologies and their application in non-profit sectors.
