    Mentor an Austin ISD Middle or High School Student

    Support Austin ISD students by becoming a mentor! APIE Mentors show up for middle and high school students to remind them that they matter, help them persevere, and realize their dreams.

    APIE mentors are:

    • Able to meet with their mentee at their AISD school once a week for 30-60 minutes. Biweekly meetings may be arranged on a case-by-case basis.
    • Comfortable supporting youth from diverse backgrounds.
    • Able to have compassion, patience, and cultural competency for youth.
    • Interested in developing a healthy and supportive relationship with a young person.
    • Able to maintain confidentiality and communicate appropriately with youth and staff.

    APIE mentors receive:

    • Training before mentoring.
    • Resources to understand and build an effective mentoring relationship.
    • Ongoing support from APIE and AISD staff.
