    Description

Arlington Free Clinic advances health equity by providing comprehensive, whole-person healthcare to our neighbors who would otherwise lack access.

You can use your language skills to assist with medical appointments in-person or via telehealth! A majority of AFC patients speak Spanish, while a smaller percentage speak Amharic or Mongolian. To provide the best patient-centered care, AFC uses volunteer interpreters to assist with intake, discharge, and patient appointments.

    What makes a successful volunteer?

    • Volunteer Interpreters do not have to be professional interpreters, nor do they have to have experience in the medical field or existing strong familiarity with medical terminology. A successful AFC volunteer Interpreter likes interacting with new people, enjoys fast paced working environments, has a flexible personality, and is culturally aware.

    Requirements

    • Fluent in Spanish & English
    • Must commit to volunteer for at least 8 months
    • Must commit to volunteer 2-3 shifts per month (roughly 6 hours total)

    How to get involved

    • Sign up to attend a Virtual Community Tour to learn who we are, what we do, who we care for, and how we do it.
    • After the tour you will receive an application link to complete, followed by an interview with the Director of Volunteer Resources.
