    Description

    Seeking volunteer tutors who are:

    1. 18 years or older.
    2. Willing to commit approximately 3 hrs a week (2 tutoring, 1 prep) for a minimum of 4-6 months.
    3. Able to attend in-person tutoring sessions in Washtenaw Literacy's set Ann Arbor and/or Ypsilanti locations.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Planning tutoring sessions tailored to the needs of individual learners or small groups.
    2. Offering in-person 1-on-1 basic literacy (reading, writing, and math) tutoring or small group ESL (English as a Second Language) tutoring to help adult learners improve their skills and meet their goals.
    3. Identifying areas of difficulty for learners and developing strategies to support them.
    4. Assessing learners’ progress and providing regular feedback on their performance.
    5. Using a variety of tutoring materials and technique.

    Qualifications:

    1. Strong English communication skills.
    2. Strong literacy skills and the ability to effectively teach others.
    3. A desire to promote equity in our community.
    4. A willingness to work with diverse people.
